so im starting off with a 2006 nissan sentra 1.8s. its got a qg18de which is rated at 126 hp @ 6000 rpm and 129lb/ft @ 2400 rpm and a manual trans (not sure of the code). so i think its fair to say it has about 90hp atw

looks like a promising build. which are you going to use; the by-pass valve or the blow off valve?

im not sure yet. i guess it depends on wether i go draw through or blow through. every one over here QG18DE.NET • Index page is going draw through so im probably gonna do blow through

does the car have a mass airflow sensor or a map sensor? use the bov. it is easier to install.

ososlow 04-13-2010 04:31 PM

its a maf system. ehh..... easier to install is debatable. at best i would say there about the same. with the bov you have to weld a flange somewhere on the intake pipe between the turbo and tb, and with the bpv you have to weld a nipple on the intake pipe between the air filter and turbo. not really much of a difference i think.

all you have to do with a bov valve is mount it where you want it and run a vacuum line from the intake. with a bypass valve you have to run an air line from your boost pipe to the turbo inlet pipe. the bypass valve is used on oem boosted applications that have maf sensors. instead of venting to the atsmosphere like a bov, the bypass valve sends the metered boosted air back into the turbo inlet to prevent the engine from stalling since that air was already metered and the engine thinks its being used. the bypass valve has a very weak spring and it stays open all the time there is vacuum so if you vent one of these valves to the atmosphere then your sucking in unfiltered/unmetered air. use a bov. mount the bov before the maf so your not venting metered air.
