fmic vs smic
alright my friends and I where talkin about some intercoolers intercooler options ... either i could go with a smic dsm or i could go with the vw fmic ...iam sort of lookin for the sleeper look.. and my friend got the bright i deal of runnin two smic dsm one in each fender to hide them and puttin the one closest to the intake and make a ice box for it
---- ur hand is a better place for the beer but if u make it big enough u could that double dms ic thing was just a idea and the ic iam going to cut some exhaust tubes and have my friend weld them cuz he is a iron worker and does it for a living
location? i need some new piping for a good price and a bigger downpipe..once again for a good price. fmic get more air passing through...remember if u want it to be sleeper there is always black spray paint. and if u have access to a person to make custom piping im sure u can make a smic be a fmic like what i did...

When I swapped .48 AR turbine housing for .63 AR housing back in the days of yore, I also went from non-IC to IC. My IC was a cobbled together pile of swill where I welded (Todd Stough did 95% the welding, actually) three DSM SMICs together into one big nasty FMIC with pinhole leaks sealed by yours truly and some metal epoxy. The internal volume of it was *twice* one of those $500 Precision "600 hp" cores.
My spool time increased by 500 rpms. *sob* The horror!
When dealing with tiny turbine OEM turbos, it's going to be hard *not* to spool even if your intake tract is "less than perfect." Don't worry so much about what other people say and do what you want. The bottom line is that boost works, and you can refine your setup after you get it together and running.
Now, I'm partial to the plastic end tanked factory ICs - you can get two or three of them and do a *thorough* job of cleaning/degreasing them, then epoxy them together into a FMIC. There is something to be said for mounting a real sized IC in the bumper, where airflow is the absolute best. If you can't do it now, plan on it in the future. Stealth can be accomplished by not butchering your bumper cover like a ricboy homo, and a light coating of flat black spraybomb - I've seen a couple cars you couldn't tell until you got right up on them and were looking because you were told it was a turbo car...
