FMIC Suggestions for 2000 GS-R on 6-8 psi
Hey Guys, Im currently piecing together my turbo project on my 2000 Integra GS-R.
For the past 2 weeks i have read more about intercoolers than i can take! I'm almost ready to purchase the fmic but i had a question about fitment and engine cooling. I was going to pick up a 6" tall fmic but then i did some searching and i can get a 9" tall for the same price. My questions are: 1. On 6-8 psi would the 9" be overkill? 2. Will there be clearance issues with a taller 9" fmic on a 3rd gen teg? 3. With the taller fmic will i be hindering the engines cooling system since the intercooler is taking up more surface area and blowing more hot air onto the radiator? Any overheating issues? 4. With the larger fmic on such small boost will i experience a noticable drop in pressure? 5. Also i noticed that most intercooler on the market are 2.5" - 3" deep. Would there be fitment issues with 3". I know you guys know you stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh also im a new member, my names Chris im from Upstate, NY. This site rocks! Thanks, Chris |

I'm not positive, but I think you will have some serious space problems with a 9" tall intercooler. The 2.5" to 3" thing isn't as much of a big deal. As for 6-8 psi..I think the 9" just wouldn't be worth the crap you would have to go through to stuff it under the front clip. I say go 6"...

9" is overkill, 9" will be a bitch to mount, buy a 6" cca or jrc cooler, it'll be perfect
