Default FMIC Install - WTF am I gonna do? (DONE W/PICS!)

So I picked up a Custom Coach IC for Xmas. Looks great, feels great and I cannot wait to get this thing on and back on the road.

First roadblock is the position of my turbo. Unless I drop a boatload more money on a new manifold, the compressor side points up and there's not a damn thing I can do about it. So I gotta do a 180, take it back down and then 90 degrees to the driver's side?

But ----! I had no idea my windshield washer reservior would be in the way? I think I might try finding something smaller or maybe using a heat gun to reshape it a little?

For fun, I take it out to see what else is going on. Now my ------- filter is in the way!

So ----! I take that off too and I suppose I can squeeze an IC pipe through there... But I really don't want to run w/o a filter.

Here it is mounted... Which is another thing. How much do you guys cut off the front bumper cover to get it to fit?

Any thoughts?

when you rotate the cold side you will have to remofe the pipe holding the filter, and flip that around I think. Then it should work out pretty well.

You will have to cut some of your bumper, but how much depends on your exact set-up. Be sure to have teh charge pipes on when you test-fit the bumper. Cuz they might stick out to far.

I have an internal wastegate and it's squished between then turbo and the block. It's rigged like you wouldn't believe and I actually had to notch the block slightly to get it to fit. Not to mention that the arc on the housing gets bigger as it goes around, so when you start rotating, the radius gets larger and it's just not going to work with my current setup. The only solution is getting it further away from the block (via new manifold) but I just don't have the bread for that right now.

BTW, I was running a SMIC in the fender so I do have some 2" pipe to reuse.

Anyway, I'm content to do the 180 and I guess I'll have to figure out something for the washer reservior, but what about a smaller filter? I know a lot of people run screens and I think the flange I have would love that, but I'm worried about getting a bunch of ---- sucked up in there. This car is getting to the point of being race-only, but it could be a daily driver too. And I'm in Ohio. With rain. And more rain. Throw some snow, hail and tornados in there somewhere too.

U can put a mesh on the turbo instead of having a filter. Put a rubber hose on the compressor to connect to the i.c.

BTW, I'd be cool with turning the filter up, but I'm pretty sure it's going be hitting the PS pump.

I think that's what it's going to come down to...

More than anything, I just wanted you guys to look things over and see if there's anything seriously out of whack.

get creative, there's no real 'how to'. i would put a 90 coming off the turbo outlet heading toward the washer fluid hole (looks like you took it out), the a 90 going down where the reservoir was, then a 180 heading around the corner to the ic

If u can get enuf piping u can point the filter upward, but ur right ur going to need a small filter.

Scratch that upward idea. B/c u still need piping for the compressor to the i.c.
