I'd say go with the 8.5 pound flywheel. You'll get used to it in rush hour traffic... hehee

I love my 8.5 lb aluminum flywheel. I think its a nice thing to have with a big clutch, less shock when it engages due to the lack of inertia in the flywheel, plus its easier to revmatch (helps out alot). I have no trouble taking off from a stoplight with it either. Seems to help a little with traction issues when shifting too. The lighter it is, the higher rpm you can launch at without blowing your tires away (huge benefit). N/A guys say its one of the best mods you can do, but boosted guys will argue (maybe not as dramatic of an effect but still worthwhile)

don't let go of the gas. powershift owns.

i have a 8 pounder, i love it, plus im boosting.
i really felt it the other day while driving the car
i was in 5th, downshift to 4th to pass these 2 cars and i flet something i never felt before (with stock set up)
i dont know if it was rev matching or what but i was like... ....
as for driving, i really have notice any difference for stock. i mean as far as getting on it from a stop or so yeah but normal driving it feels the same to me

Something you should keep in mind is that if it allows you to rev fast, you'll also drop revs much quicker between shifts.

Even the fastest shifts is going to lose revs between shifts and lightening your flywheel is going to multiply those losses.

Just be mindful of your gearing and turbo lag on your setup. If you are racing and your RPM's drop below an ideal level you chose too light of a fly wheel for your setup.

They couldn't tell the difference between a lightened flywheel and a stock flywheel? Have they ever driven a vehicle before? :P

What is the performance difference between a 12lb. aftermarket flywheel and a shaved 12lb. factory flywheel? They both weigh the same amount and the weight is what it's all about.
I have a 9.5 wheel in my car and I couldn't tell much difference after changing it...mabe I'm just blind, I am one of those people that wants BIG improvemants from small changes though...or mabe I'm just smoking crack!! :P
