Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
I say its a must.. I had pretty solid mounts and my exhaust hangers would always break.
|
Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
They are fairly cheap on Ebay, or from your local exhasust shop.

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
I use a flexpipe, but if you use those Factory Honda spring bolts that origionally connected your cat to your header pipe, do they do the same thinge essentially?

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
I went to the local autoparts store here for one and they quoted me over $100. I don't remember the exact ammount but I almost ---- myself :-\ I ended up finding some good ones on Ebay for like $25.

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?

so then i decided to hook up my 2 1/2", no cat, flowmaster w/ dual outlets, and bottom end increased dramatically. not touching a damn thing, i was now peaking @ 10 psi and leveling @ 9psi, and my friend said it sounded like a german sportscar. now this is only going on my experience, yours is prolly different. to stay on topic, go w/ the flexpipe or ball gaskets! mike |

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
hmm thats werid, it usually works the other way around. Everytime I've ever ran open DP it usually increases spool time.
I also 2nd the open DP, its really not that loud on a honda/acura 4 cylinder. |
Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
Damn, big ballers in here. :P I go to Checker and buy the exhaust repair kit with an 18" flex pipe and a clamp for $7.99 :P I've got two of those bad boys on my car right now. 8)

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
----, my setup is top notch sucka. This is the first setup I've ever had that I started with no open downpipe. I have a full exhaust with a muffler and everything. :)

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
im confused??. there is this kid in my area with an eclipse and i dont know his set up is weird i cant figure out if its a greddy kit or what cause the intercooler says greddy but he prob just bought a greddy intercooler but anyway. he did some custom ---- and he has like and acutal muffler sticking out of his front bumper then he has the regular exhaust. what the hell is the one in the front from. whatever it is it sounds like crap. worse than a ------ ups truck.
|
Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
thats an external open wastegate that you hear
|
Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
ok thanks whitey. cause i can always hear that POS driving around. i like the sound of my rex with a short ram and header with no exhaust better and even that sounds bad. maybe its just the way he did it. it really does sound like he's driving a truck.

Re:is the flexpipe necessary?
hooking up a vacuum to your breather is also benificial ;).
I didn't have a flex pipe, I drove about 1500 miles with no flex pipe, no problems there. My new downpipe is not gona have a flex pipe either. O ----, i just realized as I was typing the last sentence that thats probly the reason why I kept blowing DP gaskets. Ok never mind, run a flex pipe. ;D |

Are you saying that jokingly or are you serious? Cause you know that is true, it frees up horsepower. |
