Default first time turbo

Alright, here it is: This is my first turbo build and in fact the only turbo car
I've ever owned. I'm kinda hooked on this ---- now.
This is a 1.6 sohc from a Mazda 323, in a 97 Ford Aspire.
I know, what the ----'s a Ford Aspire? Kia made these for ford, and they
got the engines and transaxles from Mazda. This is the car that replaced the
shitbox ford festiva in 94 and was made till 97. Same basic platform, but
200 pounds heavier. I selected the car for it's weight. (2,000 pounds),
because I primarily use it for ice racing here on the great lakes. I was getting
my *** handed to me on the higher traction days by more powerful cars like
say, neons, or the ford focus. (figure about 130 hp cars with weights of about
2,300 pounds). Wanted a little bit more power, but without the weight of a heavier
car. So you know the rest of the explanation.
Dr. frankenstein goes HMT!

The turbo is a KKK K03...Think: 1.8 Liter 20 valve AUDI or VW.
Internal wastegate w/a spring cracking pressure of 3 pounds,
wide open at 7 pounds.
It spools pretty fast for a journal bearing, (I did a .060 oil restrictor)
I've got boost at 2,500 rpms in second.

I'm using a Forge bypass valve system. (got a question for you guys later about that)

What you're looking at, is a hand made manifold out of 304 stainless. There isn't
an after market mani made for this 1.6 sohc, only the dohc version (HMT baby).
Had all four flanges waterjet cut from the gaskets (I made some little changes to the designs, all this cutting was free by the way). Made the tubes out of bends, and had them tigged together for a favor. The guy needed a merc. vapor light mounted on his barn...guess he was afraid of heights. My exhaust pipe got loose from a clamp one day and loaded the down pipe with weight and I did get some cracking, but now I've got the pipe secured and my buddy reinforced the mani with a little bit of a stainless saddle. All is good now.

I'm currently running 5.5 to 6 psi with all stock internals, I'm thinking I've netted
about a 33 hp increase, based on a stock rating of 82 hp .
I've got all the cold air you can stand out on the lake, hence no IC. In fact I had
cut the hood and have a evo-style scoop/vent/chimney, which keeps it way
cool under there. (I'll add a pic of that later)

I've got a "Coolingmist Varicool 2" brand water/methanol injection system hooked up to it
as well. This is the 150psi pump

1.5 Quart tank, I run a 50/50 mix

This is where the nozzle goes in

This is the cuntroller, button on the left is when to come on (e.g. psi)
,button on the right is when to be at full spray(psi again). Middle button
is also volume

Turbo from underneath, waterlines, drain back to pan, downpipe/oxy sensor.

Here's me last weekend confounding a 2.0 focus for my most excellent
appearance on the podium, placing me solidly in second place for the season.

And oh yeah...I brought you some tacos for lunch, you slack-jawed *******

I was going to give you ---- because your **** doesn't show up but it's best that it doesn't. Those bitches need razors. Cool *** build though. Ice racers seem to be pretty hardcore ----------ers that don't mess around.

Very well done. What are you using for engine/fuel management on that beast(other than that 50/50 meth mix)? What do those motors rev out to? have you thought about a slightly larger turbo...or does that seem to do the trick?

Very nice. Good newb post, with excellent fab work...
