FInally got some track time !!

60' = 2.313 ( very good huh.. )
1/8 9.506
mph 75.82
1/4 14.663
mph 94.47

This run was made it COMPLETE DRIVING FORM ( tipped to the top tank of gas, 93oct., completly stock exhuast with punched cat, tools "in case ----", 5 extra quarts of oil, and all the misc. stuff my girl and I took to the track ).
I was running 10psi with the stock clutch ( which was slipping so bad in 4th that I was literlly tapping the gas almost all the way though 4th gear !! ) stock CRX Si rims, with BFG comp. TAs ( non DR ). Car was of course in "full interoir" foam.

I was pretty happy... That was the best outta.... one run... Yeah, one run... kinda..
#1 run = IC pipe came off in 3rd gear
#2 run = above times
#3 run = clutch slipping so bad it ran a 17.5 and I was in 5th by the time I went though the traps !!! I desided it was time to sit in the stands...

Sucks, but I'm happy..
Compelete turbo system with engine and everything = $1100
Car = $1200
Interoir $300

Not bad..

A new cobra disappointed me.. It has nitto DRs, ice in the intercooler and on the S/C, pass. head light removed so it rams air on the aftermarket huge K&N... Best all day was 12.80 !!!! I thought it would do a lot better...

Re:FInally got some track time !!

good times! get that clutch and you might get 14 flat....

Re:FInally got some track time !!

Yea, the car is just -40 across tuned, and about chokes me out while driving, but its better safe than on the side of the road... Another words after the clutch a dyno season is next. The exhuast was put on directly to reduce my HP b/c the clutch.

Looking into a CM stage2... My brother's Z28 ran 99-100mph at the track so that's the number I'm chasing, but he runs 13.40 like clock work ( stall convertor and drag radals ).

Anyone have any advice on clutchs for less than 300hp, but more than 220hp ?

BTW this was also with a 160K original DX tranny, hehe..

Re:FInally got some track time !!

89' civic H/B^ D16Z6 block, D16A6 head, Y8 intake, DSM 450cc injectors, AFC HACK, Starion FMIC, Volvo Adj. BOV, DX tranny, HF manifold with BMC racing adaptor plate, some volvo IC piping some PVC, stock ecu timing, PM6 ECU, dizzy retarded 2 degrees.

Interoir has been completly comverted to Si spec, the only thing factory inside is the dash, sterring wheel, headliner, and carpet. Also have 94+ teg console and over priced B&M shifter. Boost/vaccum, Ele. FP, and A/F guages.

The exteroir is compelty stock minus the 91' CRX Si wheels with 2 year old BFG comp. TAs, even down the stock black bumpers.. I did cut some hood loovers in the hood to help the cooling of the turbo, but to be honest, the car runs extremly cool with 1 stock puller fan, and a $60 pusher on the turbo side. The pusher fan stays on and the stock puller fan is just "in case ----" as in never somes on, so yes I'm using a stock full sized radiator too. No A/C.

Short comings ? Well, my downpipe needs some love. Right now it is 2 1/4'' piping that makes a 90* direct turn downwards to a peice of flex pipe, then to the stock punched cat. And my "turbo to IC" piping is being pinched, and I'm also using the stock inlets and outlets on the starion IC ( 1 1/2'' piping )..

The WRX turbo is just impressed the ---- outta me.. I thought it would run outta air, nope.. I thought it wouldn't make any top end power, wow was I wrong. And its been a great turbo...

I have a T3 SVO .60/.63 in great shape, but I'm having a hard time justifing taking a great turbo off, to put a twice as big turbo on ( my engine is low compression (8.4/1), but not built )...

Where's the reaction time? ;D

89dxhunchback 01-18-2004 02:43 PM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

.610
It was test and tune, I was just looking for times, not really beating the nitrous injected LS1 camaros beside me, hehe...

Re:FInally got some track time !!

That's pretty good. If this was honda-tech you'd be a dipshit, but here in the real world, that's damn good. ;)

Re:FInally got some track time !!

Get your 60' down near 2.0-2.1 and you'll be in the low 14's.

Oh yeah, you NEED to swap that 60/63 on there. My car is waiting for the TD04 ;)

89dxhunchback 01-19-2004 04:06 AM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

Or you could just buy the 60/63 from me, hehe..

y0 my stock CRX Si with JDM cupholders ran a 14.2 your turbo is weak dude ;D ;D ;D ;D

89dxhunchback 01-19-2004 12:57 PM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

I have integra cup holders, but no JDM ones...

See, no matter what people say, I have very little invested, I have fun working on it, its not slow, it has nice/full interoir, handles good, and could look pretty nice with a paint job...

CHeap, fast, reliable
They say to you can only have 2/3...

Re:FInally got some track time !!

with a 2.5" exhaust on there your turbo would spool quicker. I bet you're losing more time w/ a slippy clutch then you think. Also, why not upgrade to an Si trans when u change the clutch??

91esibtuned 01-20-2004 04:13 PM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

best things to do is replace that clutch, get a 2.5 exhaust, downpipe, ported 02 sensor housing, and high flow cat

91civicZ6 01-20-2004 09:25 PM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

i was joking dude. making fun of Honda-tech, where all CRX's run 14s regardless if its a stock HF or an Si, and a "slipping ass clutch" is always part of the equation of why "my homies stock crx si only ran a 13.8"

My local forum for the guys in Tampa/central Florida let me post some pics of my car and maybe some stuff you might not know about it ( or wanna know about it ). I'm not sure if they are going to be pissed or what ever that I posted like 5 pics, but anyway here's the link to the thread...

wtf? your ic pipes are like almost touching the ground

Re:FInally got some track time !!

LMAOOOOO that's BADASS. "The un-mini-me" I LOVE IT! That's such a good idea. Those are great times..not to mention the 60' time could have been much better as well.

WHen the exhaust is fixed, the IC pipe is set, the new clutch, AND BIG BERTHA (T3) put on, that car will haul ass.

Definately into low 14's, but im gonna even go out on a limb and say 13's too. It's got a lot more in it.

GOOD WORK! Looks great.

Also, how'd you run your radiator. I just took my fan off, but during the summer ill need it. :)

PS (keep me updated :))

For the double IC affect ;)

Re:FInally got some track time !!

My car isn't lowered at all and it never hits the ground, although my DP scratches every now and then...

One year I'm going to pay some place to make some custom IC end-tanks, but for now it works fine... The 1.5'' inlets and outlets aren't "idea" either...

I didn't post this on H-T did I ?? Just checking, hehe...

funtional? he has an intercooler he doesnt need that.it just looks chunt to me. its going to kill his sleeper look but to each his own. ::)

Re:FInally got some track time !!

Since the vents go "into" the hood you can't tell anything is done to the hood unless your standing in front of it, its not really noticable sitting in another car, even with the white bondo on the red hood.

I said it still needed work, its not really like buying a $300++ hood and bolting it on... The hood still has a few more layers of bondo, wet sanding, and the whole /primer painting process.

"WHY??" If you could feel the heat that comes out of it after a little drive, you'd know why. My car doesn't run hot at all, but any further cooling I can get to the turbo/engine is a plus. Not to meantion now my air intake pulls fresh/cool air directly from it...

Wow, I figured I'd get more "your stupid" comments about the plug wires... Funny I showed a friend, and he laughed and offered to give me some accel 8.8mm, he has the nology wires now.. ole well..

;D Did you stand on the roof to take that photo ???

89dxhunchback 02-22-2004 01:17 PM

Re:FInally got some track time !!

Hehe, yea. If you look at the other pics the car isn't in "show car" condition. The entire car needs painted, the clear coat is peeling off everywhere, and the hood already has some dents in the front ( I used to have to hit the hood to get it open ), but no dents were made while taking that pic ( odd enough ).

The Pic does show how bad the paint/clear coat is, I've sanded almost the entire hood to knock off most the loose clear coat.

just cut and cap the stock inlet/outlet tubes and have some side feed welded in. i had a shop do mine and it made running the pipes so much easier and i had them step up the size too.
