Yeh, I know it's dirty, but until I can get the car painted, it's gonna stay dirty/sleeper look. Also, it pulls hard as hell, way more than I expected, and in 5th gear on the expressway, I can just part throttle it and pass people easily. Also, I can burn the tires from 1st to 3rd gear.

-Broken exhaust stud
-uncut Zip ties -No intercooler -Mismatched IC pipes -Kinked upper rad hose -Electrical taped connections -No coolant lines going to turbo -Dirty as hell That right their gets the ultimate low-budget HMT Setup Award. I'm diggin it! :) |
Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
yikes...scary mesh on the compressor! :o
You need a filter. Oh, and an intercooler if you're running 8 psi... looking good though - that's the epitome of HMT right there. congrats and keep us updated! |
Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
Well, the hose isn't kinked, I think it's original though. I need to get my BOV mounted on a bigger pipe ;D. The electrical tape is just there to cover up the connectors. I'll clean that up one day. Anyone got any recommendations to clean out the engine bay? They use salt on the roads here in the winter and it really takes a toll on just about everything. Oh yeh, the stud it broken and I couldn't get it out, so I put some high temp rtv around it and it sealed nicely. I need a downpipe, but I don't really care, I've driven passed cops and haven't gotten pulled over yet.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
get some degreaser, spray it on the bock and let it sit for 15 minutes, then douse it with warm water. or get a pressure sprayer at a car wash place.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
are you getting any detonation at 8psi? that sweet, if it works forget about the ic.
|
Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
It looks like your vacuum hose is about to fall off your BOV. Pretty cool setup though.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
Here is a short video, I know you all like videos ;D. For some reason you can't really hear the BOV, I can hear it while driving and it's pretty loud.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
Suh-weet.
I can't wait 'til spring to tackle my HMT. Observation: I see your dist. cap is mounted cockeyed, so you can get the wires out to the MSD. Ur not getting a good connection from the rotor to the pins like that and it'll wear the pickups out a lot faster. Get a blaster coil, toss the Honda coil, and route the wires out the top-back where the cap seal makes the half-moon plug. Oh, and modding your honda cap to take an external blaster coil is good clean fun! -Icarus |
Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
The wires are actually coming out of the front half moon thing. Also, I actually have a blaster coil, but I can't afford the damn cap right now.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
No detonation as of yet. It's pretty cold out here in IL which is acting as a kind of intercooler. I will be mounting a dsm SMIC when I get out of school in 2 weeks. Thank god my garage is heated, so I can work. The birds my mom has in there are quite annoying though when they start screaming like crazy >:(.

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*

Re:Finally Boosted, Pics inside *56k beware*
Make your own cap out of the one you already have!
1)Get a cheapo sparkplug and bash the nipple out of the ceramic isulation 2)Pull the spring loaded pin out from the inside of the cap 2b)Drill a hole in the raised 'button' on the outside of the cap (on the inside of the cap this is where the pin sits. This was the hardest part for me because I had to ream out the hole with a too-small drill bit and I kept breaking them. :P ) 3)The nipple from the spark plug should be threaded so just thread it into the hole. 4)Augment with some JB Weld. Voila! If this doesn't make a lot of sense, imagine that you are taking the pin from the inside of the cap, and relocating it to the outside of the cap! Mine is done this way, as are a few friends' of mine. Pretty straight foward and only costs like four bucks. *Note: If you somehow really botch this, you'll probably have to get a whole new cap. But i forget, you've already HMT'd your car, this should be a piece of cake. -Icarus |
