Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
First, English isn't my mothertongue, so don't blame me if my English isn't so clear ...
The setup : 89 honda civic, D16A9 engine ( really similar to the ZC): All the internals are new, but still OEM stuff Ported and polished head Turbonetics T3 0.60/0.48 38 mm wastegate SSAutocrap manifold ( :P) Custom 2.5' downpipe 2.5' charge pipes Bailey Evo2 BOV Catch can EG radiator with 12' slim fan 450's Ecu "chipped" with turboedit Exedy flywheel Exedy stage 3 clutch I'm running 9 psi. http://membres.lycos.fr/civic16s/DSC00996.JPG http://membres.lycos.fr/civic16s/DSC01033.JPG http://membres.lycos.fr/civic16s/DSC01034.JPG Thanks to HMT,HT and TurboD16 forums for the good informations they provide. :y What oil pressure do you have (cold and hot engine) ? Do you think that the "tiny" EG radiator is enough to cool the engine ? / how "high" the temp gauge should be at the limit of the "correct" use ? ??? |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
First off nice set up,, lets see some numbers!
oil pressure proly 75 cold and 25-35 at running temp That radiator should do fine, the temp guage needle should stay at 1/4 to 3/8 when its running at normal operating temp. If it doesnt, I would go with a dual core civic radiator. |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
what intercooler is that?

Setup looks bling O0, my hot idle is at 10 psi and cold 70 psi. The half rad should be fine as long as it doesn't go past halfway.

Looks good man. Keep us updated on some numbers. My oil psi is 85 cold @ idle, and 20 warm @ idle...usually makes at least 20 psi per 1000 rpm, unless i'm above the 5500 rpm mark. Then it kinda drops off a hair, but always makes a minimum of 12 psi per 1000 rpm anywhere above that. Of course i also run 15W40 in it. ;D

Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
The intercooler was made by one of my friend, but i give him the "example" of an SSauto IC to do the job (for the dimensions).
So my buddy make a real copy of that stuff ... ;D Thanks for your replies about oil pressure, i'm using 10W40 synth oil, and my readings are similar to yours. But I'm still nervous about my radiator : the temp sometimes rises up to the half of the gauge. Do you think I should put an other radiator, the problem is that the EG type is too "high" : I can't close my bonnet with that ... |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
Nice neat setup dude. 8) Change the manifold because there are too many bad stories about SSAutocrap. :'( Search this board, and you'll find a few cheap new manifolds for about $150.00 to $200.00.

^ i agree, and hows that .60/48 on your car. how do you like it, because i am about to put the same turbo on my y7.

Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
Can really give any "objective" feedback on the turbo, my internals are new and I didn't really pushed the car yet.
I'll keep an eye on the rpm to tell you when it starts boosting, but with 0.48 A/R and can say that the turbo spools very quickly. |

other then that clean ass setup man.. |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
I'd definatly try bleeding your cooling system a few more times.
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...trike/rs21.jpg Especially if your radiator cap is sitting lower than it was stock. Its hard to bleed out all the bubbles, I always use "coolant buckets" so it puts the coolant level at the highest point of the car. Nice setup btw! charge pipes are screaming bling. |

Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
do what others do, make a bracket that tilts the rad back a bit so you can close the hood. other then that clean ass setup man.. Thanks all for your help and your feedbacks, I'll blled my cooling system as you said. |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
wow man real clean set-up. looks good
|
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
my .48/.60 on my neon spooled pretty quickly, but a lack of real tuning using just a rrfpr means i probably didn't get the best responser i could have....
|
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
I've cut the metal under my bonnet, so now the WG and the radiator don't mess to close the bonnet.
I'll take some pics next week to show that .. |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
looks like a really clean setup
a stock civic rad might not do it unless your run like water wetter a high psi cap and low thermostat. might try a two core del sol rad my buddy has his g2 teg with a b16 turo setup runs a civic alunimun rad cools it just fine |
Re: Finally boosted / need some feedback [pics]
I'll look how my rad work next week.
If i can find a del sol rad, I think I'll take it. |
