Finally boosted!

Well I've finally boosted! The only thing that sucks about my setup is the open DP so I don't even know what my BOV sounds like it's so loud :P And the CX tranny I have on my Y7 in the EH3. I got it for 20 bucks when my y8 tranny took a ---- about a month ago. 1st and 2nd are not so bad but after that it just blows boosted being so long and the stock clutch slips(duh ::)). Now maybe I need to change my name to "Stillturbo'd".
Specs
-IHI RHB5 VF(Sube' Loyale) w/90k and no shaftplay(with T3 welded being that these turbos had some goofy triangular flange and when I get something bigger I can keep my manifold ;))
-Custom Y7 exhaust manifold with T3 flange welded on and painted with high temp alum. colored paint and then wrapped with header wrap
-DSM 2G SMIC with modded end tanks mount in wheelwell
-2" charge piping from turbo to IC than 2.5 from IC to TB
-Monza BOV(got from Boostedstinky nuts)
-Greddy Bluebox
-Blitz dual turbo timer with built in boost guage(reads in bars though :-[)
-homemade downpipe from 2 2.5" 90 degree elbows
Total for everything was 390! Thats that's budget and still nice looking ;)

congrats and welcome to the world of boost! you're gonna love how people walking down the side walk break neck (turn around real fast) when they hear your turbo spooling and BOV going off while you speed up toward them.lol i stil crack up sometimes when i see that. oh and if you have a front mount intercooler under your bumper, alot of ricers, car people will slow down just so they can get a closer look. bad part is that before you know it you'll get use to the extra power and you'll want more power! good job though on your set up.

becareful with that home depot elbow off ur turbo... its gonna melt in like 2 days. try to make an elbow outta metal then jus use a silacone? connector... if u wanna be ghetto go to the junk yard and gank some off turbo volvo's... the blu connectors are silacone. that elbo's gonna melt.

I can see that vaccumm manifold was a great investment :P

"I can see that vaccumm manifold was a great investment" Hah hah! Yeah I still gotta pick up some fittings for it so the someother things had to come first and I forgot what the thread size was. ::) I'll have it working at the end of the week. Then for the turbo timer I got for like 50 bucks on ebay just because it had a boost gauge then when I got it, it was all covered in some epoxy since the guy had it mounted on a homemade din panel so the rest of it looks like ---- from me scrapping that ---- off and I couldn't think of any other place to mount it. NOTE: if you disconnect the hazard button your turn signals won't work :P

Alright, I've been boosted since Sunday and only at .65 bar. For FM I've just have a Greddy bluebox and not throwing any codes but I'm not sure if I'm leaning out since I don't have a AF gauge yet but it starts to bog really bad at the higher RPM's. I'm not getting any black smoke or knocking. Could if be cause I'm just running an open downpipe? Sometimes I get some really good pulls while some other pulls it really starts bogging. I'm leaning towards putting in my Airtonix pump and picking up some 450s and a safc. But until then I may just pick up a adj FPR and some obd2 vtec lude injectors(290 i beleive) and see if that helps out any?

Re:Finally boosted!

bogging to me sounds more like too much fuel..
but theres no way to know for sure..
Get a wideband or borrow one..

Re:Finally boosted!

could it be leaning out too if it was bogging too?

Re:Finally boosted!

Holy ----! Well I picked up a set of 1 step colder NGK plugs over stock and gapped them at 30-32 and retarded the dizzy. Oh my god it was a night and day difference!! No bogging at all and she pulls all the way to redline. Now only thing that's bad is the clutch is slipping and this shitty ass CX tranny. I was amazing something so inexpensive and simple could make such a difference. Now I hit .86 bar and before the highest I hit was .6 bar before she would fall on her face and start bogging and stuttering. Yeah I'm so pumped! ---- yeah boost rules!
