Finally... almost a year later.....built engine is complete...
Yeah... dont really post that much around here but some of you might remember my old set up... if not here is the link:
http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28414
but anyways... pretty much last December it blew up on the way back from Pittsburgh, mad smoke bellowing out of the breather valve. Didnt even crack it open until about midway July since I was pretty sick and in the hospital for like 2 weeks and pretty much was unable to do much labor for about a month after my 2 surgeries. But when I did crack it open, I had come to find out that my ringlands on piston 4 were completely gone on the one side of the piston and the ringlands on piston 3 were cracked. Not really sure what the cause of this was... might have been bad gas or just the fact that I didnt turn the boost down for the winter months causing me to not lean out. But anyways.... I finished purchasing my ---- for the built engine in April and only got around to building it towards the middle of August. The engine would have been in earlier but due to a wrong clutch kit being sent to me and having to go back to college at Pitt for the fall, the engine chilled remained on the stand until my parts arrived. So finally this past weekend i got around to finishing it up.
The set up pretty much consists of this:
D16Z6 w/ SI tranny
75.5 mm YCP Vitara Pistons (.003" PTW Clearance)
Eagle H-Beam Rods with ARP2000 Rod Bolts
Zex 59300 Cam
ARP Headstuds
Garrett 50 Trim T3 .42/.48
AC Log Mani
Tial 38mm Wastegate
2.5 DP to Custom 2.5 straight pipe to Magnaflow Muffler
CCA 6" Intercooler
2.5 Charge Pipes w/ Greddy Type RS and T Bolts
60mm B18B TB
DSM 450cc
ACL Std. Main/Rod Bearings and Thrust Washers
TCS 6-puck Clutch (rated to 400 ft/lbs)
OEM Oil and Water Pump
NepTune RTP tuned by John Kerr
and some other stuff... Mishimoto Radiator etc.
There are some other things that are going to be put on the car after the engine is broken in. I have an oil cooler, catch can, Walbro 255 lp pump, Golden Eagle vac mani, and a sick 3" Magnaflow exhaust with a 3" cat that I got from samson. The car is going to be broken in with the turbo on and occasional boosting.
Previously the car made 217 whp and 183 wtq @ 10.5 psi at McNews in Dillsburgh, PA with Uberdata as the fuel management. I'm hoping for maybe 250-260 whp out of this set up in the 15-16 psi range... It should be possible I think, especially with this far superior fuel management. I know, I know, I'll be maxing the turbo out, but I plan to upgrade this summer to better manifold and a bigger turbo. I'm really really digging the T3 flanged Hahn Super 16g w/ 10.5 cm ex., but we'll see. I'm just really interested in seeing how good of a powerband this turbo can produce. I haven't really seen many people push this turbo, with dyno numbers at least. But anyways here are some pics of the engine chilling in the bay:
any comments are welcome... also to my surprise the engine pretty much started right up... we'll after my brother realized the dist. was 180 off.

yeah the turbo is small.. but im really just wanting to see how crazy of a power band can be made with this turbo... this is strictly a street driven car... might take it to the track to see what it can do but i want the widest powerband possible... without having to dish out for a baller GT series turbo
