Final countdown -- parts checklist
Hey guys, I'm gonna be installing in about 2 weeks and I want to make sure I'm not missing ANYTHING. I want to get everything in order before I start tearing ---- apart... here's what I have so far:
turbo manifold IC piping couplers and t-bolts intercooler vacuum lines vacuum manifold t's & brass fittings wastegate BOV injectors (w/resistors) oil lines (complete w/some JB weld for oil pan tap) downpipe dumptube fuel pump 3 bar map wideband chipped ECU w/datalogging gauges (boost, a/f, oil pressure) bigger exhaust bolts/nuts for turbo, DP, WG, dumptube oil pan gasket colder plugs Need help on finding where to get a mesh screen filter! Can anyone think of anything else I would need before I go balls deep into my project? I read through a bunch of parts lists and can't come up with anything off the top of my head. This is my first setup and I don't feel like having 2 weeks of down time while I buy more parts... thanks. |
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Oil, filter, and oil pan gasket, gaskets for various exhaust flanges.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Colder heat range spark plugs.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Thanks, I forgot to add the exhaust gaskets, because I actually have them :)
I don't have an oil pan gasket, however (or oil... easy to get). Hmmmm... never bought an oil pan gasket. Will the dealer rape me for one? I'll check around the net and see what I can find. and yes, colder plugs... thanks guys. |
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
autozone should have the gasket.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Indeed.. just called.. $20. Not bad :) Better than 50+ at my dealer.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
yea, im using autozone gasket, works great... also might wanna consider an egt gauge. Expensive, but'll save your engine.

Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
I figured I wouldn't make a whole new thread... where can I get on of those 3" mesh screen style filters (not so much a filter since it sits flush on the turbo inlet). Home Depot FTW? That is the last thing on my list so it seems. Thanks.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Home depot or hardware stores tractor places.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
WTF... nobody has these mesh screen filters... anyone know for a fact who would have it? I checked Home Depot, Autozone, Napa, Ace Hardware... I'm about to cut up my window screen into small pieces :P
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Are u sure? Did you check out the gutter, drywall or maybe even the fireplace sections?
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
checked the gutter one... the mesh is too open. I didn't check the drywall or fireplace sections... I wouldn't think to. I was thinking like the plumbing or kitchen section would have it, but the guy that was helping me didn't suggest anything else... that dick.

Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
the only other thing i could think of is aluminum insect screen which should be what you're looking for but youll probably have to get a full roll.....theres a website where you can buy just a sample which I think would be enough but its like 8 bucks not including shipping and i think a whole roll at depot would be about the same....your call on that one, unless someone else chimes in with the better answer.
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
nm a whole roll at depot is like $60+. check out the drywall repair kits

lol, I had some mosquito netting lying around... I cut it up and put like 4 layers on and clamped it... I think it's made of nylon or something. Will this melt and ---- my day up?

Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
check this place out http://www.twpinc.com/twp/jsp/product.jsp?type=30
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
that would be awesome... except the min. order is like $50+ for all of those. (I don't need more than 1 sq ft :P)
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
thats the website i was talking about, you should be able to just put a sample in your cart, the only problem is im not sure as too how large the actual sample is
found out its 6"X 6", for $8 minus shipping |
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
Just go to a god damn hardware store. Find one that repairs screens/windows and buy one foot of their smallest width. It's not that hard :1
|
Re: Final countdown -- parts checklist
my local hardware store sells it to me for like 50cents every time i buy a sq foot
