filter for turbo inlet...
 

how do you attach an air filter to the turbo inlet? i would think that the entire turbo unit is runs pretty hot. i have no idea how warm it gets but i would think that putting attaching one of those aftermarket cone filters would melt the rubbery part that you attach to the turbo inlet. so how do you attach a filter to the turbo inlet? ive seen everyone using some kind of mandrel bent pipe but how does that attach to the turbo inlet?

i guess along the same question is how do i connect the charge pipes? i was in home depot the other day and they have these rubber plumbing couplers and they seem to fit pretty tight with the clamps on. can i just use those or will they melt or something?

use silicone connectors.

the stuffs called purosil, if you can find a dealer near you your set, because guys charge like 5$ each for those connectors.

damn just put a screen over the turbo inlet, then cut out a circle piece from a stock airfilter, then put another screen over that.. then your done.

are you serious? most people use a real cone filter dont they? but if this works im not goign to bother with a cone filter...

I just got a screen over mine. Works fine. Breathes real good too. I used a piece of hard metal screening and then a piece of just window screen on top of that. If the window screen keeps flies out of your house it'll keep 'em out of your turbo too. Hehe.

If you do this make sure to use something strong enough on the bottom piece(closest to turbo blades) otherwise it will suck it in which is not so much a good thing.

is that what it kinda looks like? did you just make them a little bigger than the turbo inlet and then used like a clamp to keep em down? dang...this sounds really scary. the cone filter is usually is a lot finer than window screening. does the window screen filter out enough dust and stuff like that?

NO, the screen will not filter out dust and dirt.. but i know a ton of people who have been using a screen for a long time with no problems

what kind of metal screening are you talkin about? and did you just use a clamp? is that enough? also do you have any pics of your setup?
