FILTER???????
 

alright...as most of you know, im in the middle of boosting my cavy. well, on j-body a good amount of the boosted guys say they dont even run with filters, only screen over the compressor inlet. this seems kinda dumb to me, but they were trying to explain it to me that how with an NA setup you never run without a filter cuz it leads straight to the valves/cyls and all, but with turbo, first its gotta get past the screen, then the turbine spinning at 100,000 rpm...then past the intercooler and all. this made logical sense to me cept for maybe dust from a dirt road. im not on dirt roads ever really, but i have gotten a few clouds of dust ive had to drive though. ANYWAYS, so is it safe to run with just screen over the inlet or should i use a filter?

simple:
if you want the motor and turbo to last, use a filter
if not, use nothing because it will look cooler
end

hotrex- are you kidding me? slips? dude, your a 2.2! and not an ecotec 2.2! youd be like the fastest 2.2 non-ecotec if you could break 14s! what are all your mods and where do you live, lmao. so theres what, 3 turbo j-bod's on here? me, airtronics, and u....hmmm.

if hotrex's car is turbo i'd like to see how he hid it so well, that looks like a duct taped yellow intake with a hks rip off filter to me. but hey, if i'm wrong he's got a hell of a sleeper.

lmao...i THINK hes turbo and that was just a shot from when he was NA....idk though. he is on a turbo forum so hopefully hes turbo or in the process of installing one...

k, i thought i was retarded to go unfiltered, but now what style filter is better...i have no room for a paper syle one, so i must choose between a foam filter or one of those HKS blow off valve style ones.... im thinkin the foam myself....what one do you guys recogmend?

that car is my winter beater, the intake is off my crx from when it was n/a i drive a yellow turbo crx. ill race you for slips with that though... the cavy is a joke

yeah, 2.2 cavys are jokes...but run against a boosted z24 or ecotec and you deff wouldnt be sayin cavys are jokes. 12.88 on basicly all stock motor at 13 psi and 15 psi spike on a z24... that doesnt seem like much of a joke for a car when the thing was all preatty much all stock cept for the turbo. we've got ecotecs pushin 350hp at the wheels, z24s pushin 410hp.... seems like some damn good numbers if you ask me.
