Fiat 500 Multi-air Turbo set up?
 
I recently bought a 2012 fiat 500 sport for my roundabout gas saver. One thing it really needs is a little more juice under the hood. I thought about getting an abarth but they are going to be way overpriced and they still have a long waiting list. In fact my dealer won't take a deposit on one, he says all his are sold for a while. So I figure why not turbo the N/A multi-air 1.4L.

I am not looking for a large gain in power maybe 30-35%? Just enough to make it fun. But there is hardly an aftermarket for the car yet and the multi-air engine does not have a throttle body. So boosting might be a little tricky. Also 1.4 is an odd sized engine and having problems determining an appropriate sized turbo for my application. I was thinking a garrett GT22? Anybody know anything specific about the multi-air engines under boost and their ECU's that would help me in my quest?

your going to boost a brand new car that has a warranty?
i dont see the multi air system being a problem as the system acts as a throttle body. instead of opening a throttle valve it just opens the valve. your biggest problem is going to be tuning. you may have to wait a year or so before the aftermarket tuners can hack the system. i believe these cars have been out in europe for a few years. you may want to try and contact a performance company in europe to see if they can tune your ecm through mail order. otherwise your at the mercy of a tuner at this point....

Why not? If he breaks something he will pay for it no matter what. By US law, no vehicle manufacturer can deny engine/chassis/drivetrain warranty repairs based solely on the presence of owner-installed modifications. They have to show that the damage being claimed for warranty was caused directly or indirectly by the modification(s).
