A Few ?'s

I finally got the turbo in today ;D and now have a few questions...

1. Does it matter what vaccume line I tee bov into? (same ? for boost gauge)

2. Why is it that Im running more boost (7-8psi) with bov hooked up, and less boost (5-6) with line unhooked..

3. I barely retarded my timing, and car ran soo.. slow, so I advanced it 2 degrees, (at distributer) and it runs good. Should I keep it advanced. Is it bad for it.

4. I dont have my downpipe made yet... Think that will make car perform better? (with the backpressure and all? )

Re: A Few ?'s

1. absolutely not

2. i have no idea, it would sound to me like it would work the other way around... who cares anyway 7-8 psi is fine

3. your dizzy should be at stock timing setting. I would strongly suggest retarding it instead of advancing. What management are you running? FMU, afc, crome...

if your rocking either of the inferiour.. back the dizzy off a degree or to (i.e. if you have a z6 15-14* base timing)

4. I reallly hope you have some kind of a dp. You had to have driven the car to make 7-8psi, and i wouldnt drive it with nothing at all off the exhaust housing. At least a 90* bend or something. But i guess to answer your question, yes, a downpipe will be a worthwhile investment to your setup

I do have the "downpipe" on the car... (the 90 facing down... blades are not exposed) So i just need something made to connect to exhaust.

Thanks for your answers.. Im not sure about running 7-8psi on stock d16 and 185,000miles

Re: A Few ?'s

the psi is higher since the bov is being held shut with the boost from the line..i would assume

Re: A Few ?'s

yea, thats what I assumed.

Another ?... Im thinking "check valves" will help lower my boost pressure, but I think my chip is running off my map sensor, and that might throw it off under boost. Any thoughts.

Re: A Few ?'s

the purpose of check valves is to keep the map sensor from seeing boost. If you have a chipped ecu, you dont need them, nor will they lower your actual boost pressure.
