Faster Spool w/ Lower PSI WG?

When I put a 7psi wastegate actuator on my 14b it seems to spool alot faster than with the stock one. Is this normal? I was just going to the 7psi wastegate and a MBC to compensate for the boost loss.

maybe your stock wastegate spring is a little worn out, or your stock wastegate isn't completely closed when boost is building up.

Thats quite possible. There are also alot of cracks around my wastegate, so I dont get boost till 5500 RPM anyway. I guess I should just get a new turbo.

Should I try disconnecting the vacuum source off the wastegate completely and see if it spools any faster?

i wouldn't get a new turbo. i'd have those cracks mig welded it'll hold real good.

I thought about that. This is my second turbo in like 100 miles. First one had blown seals, and now the cracks on this one. Its a rather menial problem so why risk buying another fucked up one.

Do you think a muffler shop could MIG them? I have worked with them before, theyre really good, the guy makes manifolds too.

If I do have them MIG'd will I need to dremel them smooth?

you don't need to dremel them smooth. i wouldn't mess with them after they got welded just incase the weld gets messed up. they shoud't charge you more that $10-$15 to weld them if you take the turbo apart yourseld and all they have to do is weld. i think it'll work out good.

Ok, I guess thats assuming the wastegate still closes tightly.

On a side note, should I get my WG vacuum source before or after the throttle body?

i have an internal nissan t3 wastegate 6.5 psi turned upto 11psi with a turbo xs MBC i have the wastegate Teed off the intake manifold from the charcoal emissions filter hose off the intake manifold. boost holds rock steady, only 1psi more of boost builds up at higher rpms above 7000 rpms no boost spikes. full boost comes 1000rpms earlier. no complaints at all highly recomend it.
