F22B Turbo Project

Over the winter i am turboing an f22b (JDM Non-Vtec DOHC prelude). It is sleaved stock. and we are putting forged 9:1 compression pistons. I am concerned about pre detination. The intercooler is quite large, and i thinkit is sufficient for cooling. My question really is boost, and how much to run thanx. mike ??? ???

with a sleved block, forged pistons and rods, and a good tune ie. uberdata or something comparable i would say 15-20 i am going to run 12 on a stock accord f series block after i get the tuning down!!

If you spend the money for internals, you need to get a bigger turbo man. Otherwise you might as well get high comp pistons and run all motor with some nitrous. That sized turbo wont do you any justice on that motor.
Just my thougts though, even a t3 will spool quickly on your f22b motor. So at least upgrade to something 48/60 or larger

you already spent a lot of money on internals just get a bigger turbo

Re: F22B Turbo Project

I have a 92 Honda Prelude that i just blew the motor in and i am looking on doing a F22B DOHC swap also. I would like to turbo and push 8psi or a little better. If anyone could help me out by telling me the right sized turbo or the best place for a cheap manifold I would be very thankful.

Another thing would a F22B stock valve train hold up to 8lbs of boost?

Re: F22B Turbo Project

DSM manifolds bolt on to the F series head with very minor motifications. That would be the cheapest way to go... I will be running one temporaraly untill i can get my hands on an equal length manifold. I got my DSM for free. Local scrap yards should have some.. and if not u could probobly get one off of a fourm. The stock F22B Valve train wll take 8 Pounds no problem. we will be running a bar on mine in the spring.

Re: F22B Turbo Project

that turbo is way too small, I was running a t25 on a stock f22a and it was way to small, the turbo you have belongs on a go kart, you need atleast a 48/60. A built block I would run about 12 to 15psi daily and 20 at the track on race gas

Re: F22B Turbo Project

t4/t4 at 15 psi if you ask me. it's all in the tuning man. i'm runnin 15 psi out of a .48 .60 on a STOCK b16 w/ 10:1 compression and it's put up w/ tons of major ass raping for a long time. just get a really good tune goin and you can do alot w/ that motor
