F22 accord turbo question.

Would a Garret turbo with a .60 Ar intake and .100 AR exhuast be to big for an F22 accord? I plan on it being my daily driver with some weekend track time.

And 1 other question Would it be retarded to get forged pistons but no forged rods and just use the stock ones?

i think you mean 1.00ar. thats too big.

for the second question, its not completely retarded since the weakest point would be eliminated. but considering you can probably get some econo rods for pretty cheap, you might as well spring for some if you are gonna go through all that trouble.

f22a? (90-93)

Re: F22 accord turbo question.

depends how much power you want to make. Stock f22 rods are probably good to 350whp or so and the rest of the bottom end is stout but the pistons wont last at that power level for very long, forged pistons on stock rods should be fine as long as you stick to the stock redline

Re: F22 accord turbo question.

I think the 1.00 a/r turbine will be too large. IT's a P trim?
You need a big V8 to spin that!

i tried a 1.00 A/R turbine on a MAXIMA 3.0 last week and it was never spooling up!! and that vg30 has a higher turbine flow than the f22 for sure. (then I tried p trim 0.48 a/r and now it's almost spooling too quick! ahah!)

On the F22, I would rather suggest a stage 2 0.63 a/r turbine. MAybe you could get away with a 0.48 only if it's for a stock motor under 8 psi.

Compressor wise,
t3 60 trim if good for only 250-300hp but a t04e 60 trim is ok for almost 500 hp.
T04B V trim would be a beter choice IMO.

Re: F22 accord turbo question.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Yeah it is a f22a1 in a 92 accord.
and you all were right about it being a 1.00 ar . so I guess I'm going with a 16g from an evo.Although i could buy it and then get a smaller exhuast housing. but the 16g would be easier because I can just use a dsm manifold to and save some cash.

And on the rods I want to do as good a job on this car as I can but I have to draw the line somewhere you know.
And If don't want anymore then 300 hp

dude if yer gonna go and do the pistons and ----...yer crazy not to do a set of rods too. If you look around you can find forged rods for 300 used, or i belive 400-500 new. I run a Garret t3/04e 48/60ar with a 57trim stage 3 whee. Full boost by 3300, pulls hard till red line. Stock f22b1, @ 10 psi 260 whp/270 tq. Going up to 15 psi next week (hopefully) if i can get it tuned. I believe that the turbo is good to 450 hp or so. Ive toyed with the idea of a 63 ar exhaust housing, but the powerband is SOOOOOOOO fun!!!!

I don't have anything against getting rods except paying for them. If I come across some at a decent price before i install the pistons I'll probably spring for them. If I can afford um. I know I will feel better about the build if I do get some though.

yeah i would try that .63 housing, im sure your top end would probably gain 10-15whp or so... seriously. I love the .63 housing in my accord. If you can get forged rods for cheap you might as well since you have the motor apart, but they really arent all that weak, especially if you have them shotpeened, but they will give you peace of mind
