Default A/F gauge going ape ----

i just hooked my auto meter A/F guage up and it just sweeps back and forth non stop. i even drove around for a little bitto see if the O2 sensor had to warm up or something.
is my guage fucked or did i hook it up to the wrong wire? oh yeah i hooked it up to the white one coming from the OS.

no that is normal. your ECU is constantly leaning out/richening your fuel mix for emissions purposes. if it does that under WOT though, there is a problem.

If you bought the autometer one it will just sweep during idle. While driving the O2 sensor mv readings shold only sweep between the yellow zone or stoich points. Now if you are running correctly, at full race throttle you will be in the green or rich section which lets you know its all good and not going down hill.

If you want my opinion, get a digital read out A/F gauge so you can see just how lean or rich you are ...for instance 14.7:1 as stoich and 11.3:1 lean and 15.3:1 as rich and so on.

Are the AutoMeter LED A/F Gauges accurate, or are they worthless?

I've heard from a lot of people that an EGT gauge is WAY BETTER than that stupid LED sweeper thingy...

Is it possible to see what's goin' on with the LED A/F Gauge?

What are the opinions out there?

an A/F if it is not wideband and not hooked into a dyno are just ball park figures. All you really look for is that the guage reads rich when you WOT it. thats about it. an EGT is more accurate IF you now what temps to look for.

You got it backwards, the LOWER the ratio = RICH, the HIGHER the ratio = LEAN

They always move around a lot unless you are at WOT.
