Default Ext wastegate with a HF manifold...

is it possible. i'm have a REAL hard time finding the factory o2 housing for the exhuast side of my turbo. Unique Motor Sports makes a flat flange that's close (not even sure that will work), but it isn't drilled out for my internal waste gate. Turbo is off an '86 T-Bird Turbo coupe btw.

I can do it for you. or are you wanting to do it yourself? what size downpipe are you wanting? and what kind of budget are you looking at.

my turbo has a 2" exhuast, so i'm figureing 2.5" all the way back. i also need a bung for an o2 sensor on it too. as for budget, like all HMT's it's low, but do able. got a pic of one? i'm not a welder, so i'll be out sourceing it all.

I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking...build an adapter plate with a smaller outlet on the side for the wastegate, and then another similar adapter after the turbo outlet. Is this plausable?

(of course the adapter plate would need to be more then 1/2" or 3/4" thick...)

I have seen guys do it, just cut a small hole on the manifold and welded a pipe right off it. Also alot of guys with DSM's do the same thing with their cast manifolds. I dont know how well it lasts.. but people do it.

what we have been using for the Ford Focus(turbo's) with a stock manifold is using a small piece of stainless tubing between a flange that fits the stock manifold and a standard turbo flange. then you can weld on another stainless wastegate tube out to the side. like the equal length manifolds. we have been able to do that with a very small footprint.

If some people showed enough interest I would make a couple for the honda, aww I just might make some up anyway

anyway...I will try to post some pics this weekend.

providing the shop you get your cast welded at is a good one and they preheat both pieces before they weld them, they should last quite a long time.. i duno the rates of expansion between cast iron and stainless though.. that might be a problem.
