Exhaust Questions
 

There is a guy on ebay selling a 2 1/4 inch cat back exhaust which it possible for me to get for $80, because I live in NJ and don't have to pay $70 for shipping. Do you guys think this would be big enough for my turbo project? I'm going to be running a T25 at about 8psi on a D16Y8. Is this a good deal for me to get and would this be good if I went up to 10-12psi.

well from reading other posts on here I would go at least 2 1/2 or 3 inch exhaust for pretty much any turbo setup.

I say you get it. For a 1.6l engine(that is what size your engine is right?) 2 1/4 should be good. Even if it isn't the "optimal" size, it is still plenty good for that price. Bottom line, definate improvement from stock at a fraction of the price of an optimal setup.

I would not buy this setup. Even though it is cheap, it will hurt more than help. The $20-40 that you would save over a custom "JC Whitney Bends" setup, wouldn't be worth the power lost. Be smart, and do up a proper system for your turbo. You will be MUCH happier in the long run ;)

What do you mean? What is JC Whitney custom bends, do you mean buying the mandrel bent piping? I wasn't planning on making my exhaust, I have no welding experience, I wish I could. I was just going to get this so I don't have to use my stock exhaust. I was going to get a pace setter for $140 exhaust from JC Whitney but they don't make it for 2000 civics. If figured this would be a good enough low price answer to my stock exhaust. What do you think Jeff?

Yea, i was referring to the U-bends from JCW.

I mean, if you have absolutely no other option in the world, then yea, it would definately be better than stock. But if you can, find someone that can weld, and go for it. Actually, as long as you can cut the pipes, and mark the angle on the pipes, you can have someone else weld it up pretty cheap usually.

Where do you live? Maybe there iss someone on the board that can asisst you with the welding if need be?
