exhaust for my new turbo project
i have a 99 EX with the d16y8, i had a T-25 but got tired with losing power at high RPM's so i sold my kit and have had my car tore apart for about 3 months while i piece together a new kit. i picked up a saab T3 and was wondering what size exhaust i should go with. i have a custom 2 1/2" on it right now but i seen an apex-i n1 muffler with a 3" inlet and was wondering if i changed to a 3" exhaust all the way back from the DP if it would be worth it? do i need to keep the cat on it since i have two o2 sensors?
thanks |
Re:exhaust for my new turbo project
OBD2 is going to require you to keep both those o2's 1 before the cat, and one after. You can remove the cat convertor, but you have to get a o2 simulator, they are like 40 bucks, and it wires onto your 2nd o2 sensor so the computer doesnt freak out when the cat is gone. Taking the cat off and running 2 1/2 exhaust will be good. The cat was probably a reason why your t25 was running out of steam on the top end. Cat convertors sucks ass and rob power. As far as running 3in, I dont think its really worth it, its ------- big, hard to route under the car, hangs low blah, I just really dont care for it. But if you do decide to get some 3in, Kteller makes really nice stainless 3in turbo exhaust for lots of hondas.

Re:exhaust for my new turbo project
are the benefits of a 3" that much greater then a 2 1/2"? or should i just get a 02 simulator and a test pipe made and call it good?

Re:exhaust for my new turbo project
2.5" is good for 350whp like jeffy says...
