Exhaust leak help
Ok so I'm haveing trouble keeping exhaust from leaking between the turbo and manifold. I have 2 available screws, room for 3, prolly should order another one. The guy who installed it took a grinder to the the one long bolt.
Saturday I bought a gasket from the Mitsubishi dealer to place in between. Work fine until sundy afternoon. Then the turbo was makeing a funny sound. No one could figure out why. Well this is what I found yesterday when I went to put a gasket sealant on...
I let the gasket sealant dry. I started the car with no exhaust leak. Boosted with no problems. Drove it a little no problems. Then I make an attempt to drive to Edmonds. Starts makeing the funny sound again before I even leave Marine View DR. I go home and look under the hood to see this...
This is really becoming a pain. A stupid leak is killing my boost. Can anybody please tell me what I need to do to fix it?

Re: Exhaust leak help
I really can't be nice on this one. you had someone install this? was he a half dead retard with one arm?
theres missing bolts on the head flange, and missing bolts to the turbo.
why dont you take all the lugs off of each tire except for one, then loosen that one 1/2 way. then make a post asking why your wheels fell off.

It's really not that difficult.
OR get a 2 sets of smaller-diameter nut/bolt combos and go at it.
and bolt the ------- manifold up to the head properly. THere's a reason that there's so many studs there. Work from the inside-out

Re: Exhaust leak help
is this the turbo aeiro? just wondering, those bird ---- welds look familiar. but yeah, what do you expect with only 2 out of 4 bolts holding the thing together? like mentioned, take a bolt to the hardware store and get the same size bolts. try to get 'grade 8' bolts and nuts since they get so hot. also, get more nuts/bolts for the manifold/header flange as well and i'm sure you'll be much happier. that 1" exhaust may be killing your boost as well

Re: Exhaust leak help
Can you even use gasket sealant on exhausts? I didn't bother... I figured that ---- would burn up in a matter of minutes.
Seems like the way to go is to crush a piece of sheet metal (i.e. a gasket) between the 2 flanges and call it a day.

dude go to sum hardware store and get bolts like slos13 sed...and while we r on the whole "missing things" subject...why would u let sum1 install suttin on ur car that did not have the bolts/nuts to start with...cuz it looks like ur missing them where ur exaust manifold connects to the block...that cant be helping much
