Default Essential gauges

What would you consider essential gauges for monitoring a FI setup on a civic (d16y? And why?

I'm running stock internals and tuning with the AFC Hack. BTW, the VAFC II does include monitoring on some things, like knock sensor.

proper knowledge of the EGT will do the same. hotter the EGT the leaner you are.

A/F gauges are notorious for being inaccurate.

Air/Fuel gauges are cool if you need Christmas lights.

knocking can also make you run hotter. The problem is, you don't really know which it is. You could be knocking BECAUSE you are running lean, but other factors could cause it as well. Having the a/f would help. But I agree, EGT would also be very handy... The ear can be used as a knock gauge but it is notoriously inaccurate too! My VAFC II monitors the knock sensor, but I won't know how good it is until I get it.

EDIT: Ok, I'm thinking EGT and Oil press - the oil light is useless if you really like your engine. The VAFC monitors boost. EGT can help me ghetto tune the a/f. If it is hot, add fuel and see what happens! But this isn't obviously the best way to tune the entire range.

knocking can also make you run hotter. "knocking" or detonation does not make you run hotter, you run hotter and detonate due to lean conditions.
