i don't think so, i think if it is equal lenght it flows the exhaust better. my .02

I think the turbo will spool faster because of the exhaust pulse rythm.

Neccessary, No. Better, yes.
Look at how many people arnt running equal lengths. Im guessing they are sporting a little bit slower spool and a little bit fatter wallet. ;) |

im not a genius but id guess its more the length of the runners that you should worry about then them being equal length
