Default EP3 Turbo

I want to start out by saying "Hello" to everyone. Moved to this site from Clubrsx and superhonda. I get the sense there is more intelligence on this site than the others. Hope my nose was warm enough for that.

Okay, I have some questions about my project I want to start. I have lots of time to learn more but I want to make sure I am on the right track. What I want to do is put a Stage I turbo on my K20A3 and run it about 6-8psi boost for daily and MAYBE 10psi at the track now and then. Below is a list of mods I plan I getting. Be gentle, I am still researching. hehe ...oh, I am going to piece together my own kit and could use some pointers based on the below list.

K-pro
Turbonetics stage II 0.48 AR (#11025) rated for 200-350hp ebay $800.00
or Stage I T3-60 0.48 AR Garret Reman on ebay for $499.00
Exhaust manni (suggestions)
600cc injectors (used a calculation to come up with this running 80% duty.)
small IC off ebay (26x3x10)
2.5" charge tubing (too small?)
2.5" Exhaust system (too small?)
BOV (of course)
WG (of course)
Oil cooler
Oil catch can
Guages (boost / A/F / oil temp / ... )

think thats all I have come up with so far.

ANYONE suggest an axhaust style for this? Its pretty tight behind the motor...I am going to put a heat shield on my wall and hoses to prevent any damage. Car has 10k on it and I do not beat my ---- much, its moslty for my own enjoyment that I have done it and feel special. Anything I missed on my list? I see alot of things about injector resistors and all. Do I have to select a specific type?

Lastly, I plan to get 250-275hp from thsi set-up. Feasable? Stock motor, is this too much for it? I believe my block will handle it and still last a full life, hope I am not dreaming. :1

ok if ur gona get stuff off of ebay stay away from anything to do with ss autocrhome! they suck, get an intercooler off of here, like johnny race car or soemthing they really good, and for your echaust manifold and exhaust, try to get a drag manifold or inline pro, something cast iron, use a 3 in dowpipe and 3 in exhaust piping, best bet, and heatwrap ur manifold and downpipe if u can, insted of of a heatshield. then youll b good. good luck!

Okay, I will wrap the pipes also. I will NOT get anything SS Autochrome, I have heard all the horror stories about them. I want a really nice turbo and the rest I think I can handle not being "top of the line" items. I do however want a good exhaust manni, so I am going to search this site for some. Do they make custom ones on this site for my app?

Honestly, i'd say try and get a k20a2 head, along with the 6 speed tranny if you could Remeber it's not the power that counts, it's how you put it to the ground

Yeah definately at least 2.5 inch down pipe, and 3 inch exhaust. 600cc injectors sound like overkill to me for the power levels you're looking for but will work. You definately need a boost gauge, oil pressure is nice to have too, and if you have the cash, grab a wideband and an EGT kit so you can keep an eye on your tuning.

I wouldn't worry about the oil cooler yet, get thigns working first, i doubt your oil temps will be that high to start off with...

I would definitely go bigger than a .48 a/r on a K-series. At least run a .63A/R. Also if your willing to spending $800 on a turbo than you should really be getting a precision turbo. The wheels are way more efficient than turbonetics.

Okay, I will check on precision turbo. I chose a 0.48 for boost only to 10psi. Wouldn't that be a quicker spooling turbo than a 0.63 or is it just for higher volume?

thnx

Seriously I think a .48 is too small for a 2.0L. At least with a .63 your engine will be able to breathe and there isn't going to be a dramatic difference in spool time.
