ENGINE KNOCKING LOUDLY ?
 

ive got a fully built d16z6 with a garret t3. and from yesterday my car starts to make loud knocking noises.
the noise starts as soon as my engine starts , however it does not get louder as the revs get higher , in gear
3,4 and 5 the noise is quite low but you can still hear it.

what can this be ?

big end bearing ?

the car was low on oil when the noises started . :(

it is your rods and pistons. floating wrist pins are just noise makes it sound like a diesel

Does the knocking sound match the rpms? Increase/decrease in speed?

Who said I had a crx? ;) Don't ASSume that because you have AWD you will dominate on a road course. Far from it...my 89 hatch runs through 1/2 mile solo2 courses in 38 seconds and less...with no boost. So far I've beat wrx's, sti's, evo8/9's, any other dsm on a road course by at least a good 6-7 seconds. Only other cars that i compete against for a good challenge are mazda miata's with good suspension work.

What kind of dorky ricer lists "custom balance shaft removal, ARP cylinder head stud conversion, stock valves and springs, custom TB elbow, dual chrome exhaust hangers, all 6 washers in ur bov, switch on your consol for in cabin mbc, etc"

Dude, you use an MAFT to tune! AHAHAHAHAHA! What a hunk of ----. That system is horrible. I did a 2.4 build for a kid and he was using that maft bullshit to try and tune and I pulled that ---- off so fast it wasn't even funny. Then you run with your timing cover off to show your gay ass timing belt rofl.

Also, a G4CS is a 2.4 block and the 3065 is much better than your gay little PTE. GTFO you gay little cum dumpster. In 4 ban.

and no it doesn match the revs, it does not get higher as the revs get higher , infact in
gear 3,4 and 5 the knocking noise is low .

It could possibly be a spun bearing, but usually the noise increases in speed as engine rpm does.

I can vouch for a rod bearing. I've thrown two. First when I ran the car out of oil(young and dumb), second when the welded crank(i'm a poor college student so eat ----) had another bearing spin.

Essentially, if it's a rod bearing it first sounds like a marble jumping around in your engine, typically wouldn't be able to hear it too bad at the top rpm's. Then as things progress it gets much worse and makes its way through the rpm's. No longer will engine noise shroud it. Then at the point it is very loud, u'll have 1-2 days left of driving. once its gotten terrible, huge hp drop and the car will essentially die. I had to have a Kia tow my ass up my hill when mine went the first time.

I wouldn't be suprised really to find out it was rod #1's bearing that went out. lol. prepare to spend a ---- load of money with a rebuild or prepare to do it the cheap way and not know for sure how long it will last.

My folks have a 1990 prelude si with some pretty sweet rod knock, the sound definitely gets a louder as the motor goes under load but you cant hear it as easily over like 4k rpm. I think it sounds like a sewing machine... What were your rod bearing clearances like when you put the motor together?

Also I looked at Bensbabys mods list and am a little confused. Why does it say:

"Drivetrain Layout: Front Engine, Front Wheel Drive."

It explains the LSD.. I dont think AWD with slicks need an LSD but maybe I'm mistaken?

And I thought that the Eagle Talon Tsi was just front wheel drive. The Tsi AWD signified the movement of the rear wheels.

Yeah I guess Tsi can be front wheel drive turbo or awd turbo. My buddy says the 1g's didnt have an awd badge but the 2g's have an awd badging if its equipped... I did not know that
