Engine hesitation
 

Alright....another slight problem (hopefully). I've got the turbo in the Accord, with an FMU and Missing Link until I get all the parts (and patience) to do the hack. No intercooler installed yet.
The problem is that every now and then, the engine will hesitate around 4k rpms...but mostly in 3rd or 4th gear (it's an auto). In 1st it seems fine, although I haven't ragged on it yet. It will boost to about 5psi, like it should, but sometimes in the higher gears the engine will hesitate and the boost will stop at about 2psi. I never let it happen more than a second, so I don't know what it would do if I kept going while the engine is messin' up. Any ideas on what's going on? Could it be timing related? I haven't messed with that at all.

is there somekind of leak in your ic pipes? also what kind of exhaust system..stock? the reason i ask is because my car spooled up very very poorly untill i riped the cat off and replaced with test pipe.

It's all pretty much diy. There could be a leak somewhere in the charge pipes...but we checked that about a week ago...guess I'll have to check again. I'll eventually be getting an actual intercooler kit I think. The cat is off, I have a high flow cat (glasspack). However, we welded the downpipe at several spots, and there are definitely leaks there, even after re-welding. I think there could even be a leak where the flange for the downpipe to the turbo is. I felt exhaust coming out of it before the weld was bad. Could this be part of the problem? The hesitation is not consistent at all....1st gear is fine every time.

sounds like plugs/wires...might just be running too rich

Its not from your exhuast leaking, that for sure. An exhuast leak in a turbo car is kinda good...

Could be. The FMU is set at 12:1 (very rich)...it's Cartech, and adjustable, but any time I turn it down, it sings...as in, makes a lot of noise...it has a bleeder hose on it. I think that's where the noise comes from. That setup is temporary until I complete the hack.

1996 Honda Accord EX. T3 turbo, Cartech FMU, no intercooler yet. Got the Missing Link in there, it's doing it's job.

I forgot to mention that it was doing this before I had the FMU in there too. Also...I just got back from driving around for a bit, and it didn't do it....1st and 2nd I gave it a bit more throttle than usual, and it went up to 5k rpms fine before I let off on it. It only happens occasionally I guess.

Hard to explain, but when it happens it almost feels as if it's hitting a limiter of some sort...however, I know I could keep the pedal down and let it go through it, but I wouldn't wanna screw anything up.

The plugs are only about a week old...I didn't check them yet. They're stock ones...I WAS using the Platinum 4s, but they sucked. Maybe I should go one step up from the stock?
The ignition is MSD...except for the wires...those are stock. I tried using the MSD wires, but they kept popping off while driving. Not enough to shut anything down, but whenever I'd pop the hood, they'd be sticking up like a half inch. So I'm using the original wires for now.
