electric oil pump

well i completed my oil pump system the other day. i made my own using an oil pump and a wiper blade motor and actually it works pretty well. its got high and low speed and i get 50 psi on high so i think i'll turn it down. just thought someone might be interested.

I don't know man, is that safe? I don't think those motors are meant for high heat applications. How the hell did you do that anyways? ???

Re:electric oil pump

it won't recieve much heat cause there is a 5 in long shaft connecting the pump to the motor. i just welded the two together. when school starts i'm going to fabricate all my parts again so everything is perfect.

Re:electric oil pump

first off i'm using an oil cooler and second there is a shaft connecting the two together that is fairly long. theres no way in hell that too much heat will be transfered through the shaft. oh and how am i gonna blow up my motor when the oil system for my engine and the one for my turbo are different??? at the worst my turbo will go. the way i see it my setup is safer for my engine than anyone elses

keep an eye on the wiper motor, they arnt the most robust motors out there.

50 PSI is great but what about volume? I dont think that setup is going to flow enough volume to keep your turbo alive. I could be wrong, keep us posted on the outcome. What was the motivation for this? It sounds like more work that running a tap off the sending unit and a return line to me. If your wiper motor locks up while you are driving good bye turbo.

Re:electric oil pump

i set it up w/ its own oil pan so the two systems are seperate. and i get 50 psi with 3/8 in transmission oil cooler line so i think thats enough flow even half that i think would be enough.
