looking to see which will be more affordable and how much wil it cost to turbo charge it yourself mor eor less?

The CRX is a tighter fit for the turbo and manifold, and it only has dual point fuel injection which you would probably want to swap out for a multi-port system before you went turbo. The multi-port swap can be time consuming and requires you to hunt down parts.

If the '96 is a d16y7, you'll probably want to swap out the gay ass intake manifold.

In any event, the '96 would be easier because it is already multi-port injected.

yes the intake manifold has that stupid cata conv connected together. I would have to change that. how much am i lookign at to convert my engine to turbo? i know i will need a turbo and new intake and blow off valve and FMU can my ecu stay the same if i keep the boost at 5 psi and under?
Your catalytic converter is connected to the exhaust, not the intake manifold.

The cost will depend on what kind of parts/deals you get.

You do not change anything with your ecu if you are running an FMU setup.
