E-Cut Downpipes! Do They Last? How Can I Make It Effiecient? Emissions Friendly!
Could you explain how they seal?
I dunno if exhaust pipe is perfect diamter all the way around, makes sence though
How would you make one csaddict, I need help and ideas on this

I just spent a hour searching on google and found many posts on all kinds of forums for people asking where to find one in 3"
CSaddict you should start fabbing them full tilt production style.I was thinking of using a throttle cable pulley from a old t.body I have kicking around and cutting a butterfly/flapper on the lathe. You could run a bolt through the pipe and tack the throttle pulley on one end.You can buy the throttle cable assembly from your local pepboys/autozone with a bracket and stopper thing to hold it open.To seal it just have to cut a ring about a 1/4" to 3/8" to sit in fron of it so it butts up against it when closed.Dont know if that all makes sense or not but hopefully you get the idea.

search for them on the net, they use the same things on racing boats to muffle the sound into the water and some of the have like 300 hp engines
Ok so mandrel pipe aint gonna work, its got like .015" taper or its just smushed or something but itll never be round
Im gonna check tomorrow at work but I doubt Im gonna find anything that has a thin wall
Does anyone know where to buy something with a 3" hole and that has a 3" piece that would fit perfectly inside?
---- I dunno

I took my own stab at it but dont really get how to work it, Im gonna grab a throttle body for the spring and everything
Today at work I made the harder portions of it
I made a stainless sleeve and bored it out to 2.97" inner diamter or something and then took a piece of solid steel stock and turned it down on the lathe to wear it fits very snug inside the sleeve, probably .005" difference in diameter
One thing I dont get, I made this butterfly plate fairly thin, maybe 1/16"
I dont unterstand how they are able to pivot 90 degrees and not catch on the walls, how does it work?
Also how am I going to be able to connect a rod through the sleeve and connect it to one side of the butterfly and it will spin freely
I guess I could just drill a 1/8" hole through the side of the sleeve and feed an exact fitment rod through there, place the butterfly inside the bore and the piece of rod and the butterfly would be centerred right? I could just drill and tap it inside the sleeve and it should be dead nuts right? drilling and tapping such a small rod inside a bore would be tricky though
