Dynoed the TT 5.0 Notch-finally have the fuel system right!

Took the notch to Kauffmans motorsports in Dillsburg pa. Now with 42# injectors and appropriate MAF and fp, it stays at A/F of 12 thru the rpms except it goes a bit rich during peak torque. I want it safe so that is good. Still could not keep her from spinning the wheels on the rollers at peak torque-even with 18 pounds in the tires. So the torque number could be a little higher. All in all, it is about what I expected-398 hp and 490 ft-lb of torque.

i dunno what head/intake ur running but i bet u can get 500whp with the right head setup at the same boost level

My combo is pretty mild. The heads are late model explorer heads, the intake is a ported stocker.

Good numbers. Is that 18 psi on a stock block?

i dont kno how much he was boosting, but his comment was 18psi in the tires. like he let air out til he got 18psi in the tires.

thats some monster torque tho. but i agree, it does seem like it should be able to hit 500hp easily.

Nice numbers. Where at in PA is Dillsburg? If its anywhere near Maple Grove Raceway try and come this saturday for the last test and tune, I'll be there.

Than the block splits in two. I wouldn't go above 450hp

And on the 7th day, he invented the Modular motor. 8)

Thanks!
The car makes torque from pretty low down. Unless the missing peak torque due to wheel spin affected the peak hp reading...
Here is the graph
http://www.juscuzmotorsports.com/gal...nov05_dyno.jpg
The boost gauge was reading 11 during the pulls.
I'll check out where maple grove is. I am really impatient to get this car to the track!

Not always :l
so u turn ur v8 into a flat 8, big deal. All u need is a bunch of jb weld.

But seriously, running 500 on a stock 5.0 is like running 240 on a d. Its a risk some are willing to take.

I've seen stock blocks take well over 500 hp.......doesn't mean that it can't be done....they are just on borrowed time when it does happen.

Re: Dynoed the TT 5.0 Notch-finally have the fuel system right!

My idea for this project was to keep hp below 500 (for the blocks sake) and not rev past 6000rpm. This way, no need for special engine components. Yet with alot of low end torque, you can still accelerate pretty well. This car has all its smog equipment intact too and passed emissions in MD.

Re: Dynoed the TT 5.0 Notch-finally have the fuel system right!

I dont remember what they are called, but someone makes a block support for the 5.0 302 say it on Horsepower TV, it prevent the block from cracking under high rpms, and high pressure from turbo or supercharger setups.. i think it is only like 100.00 bucks and it is a diy install.

this should resolve your block splitting problems..

Yes, they are. But I know people who have decent luck with the nodular iron mexi-blocks, Jason's 5.0 is making 618 whp off one.

If you get a 5.0 block made before '69 they are quite stout... the second lightening campaign of '85 was purely cosmetic material.
