Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

well,
I can only sigh on this one. First I lost to my buddy gay ass vr6 gti. Today I took my car to the dyno for the hell of it, not expecting too much or nuthin but at least put down some decent numbers. well this is how it went, the setup is
d15b7
greddy mni
garrett t3 42/48 ar.
2 inch charge pipes
2 1/2 dp no cat
starion front mount
dsm bov
12:1 fmu
inline pump
I wanna post the pics and the chart but i'm an idiot, don't know how,
it's odd that my tourque is greater than my peak hp. another thing is after 4k my boost goes down to about fiv until redline, is that normal or I gotten too rich on the top end and lost power therefore my torbo lost steam by 4.5k? if u guys can help me read this chart and expalin to me whats the deal is.but here's the link

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

so basically, i wonder how I can stay at 7 psi all the way to at least 6.5k is that possible with this turbo or should i work on gettin a 10:1 fmu?

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

This is a good 200hp turbo. It could be an issue with your boost control, restrictive exhaust, restrictive intake, or simply a damaged turbo.

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

hey!
thanks man for posting it. I appreciate it. I dunno man this is my first time on a dyno, i don't really know what to expect out of this setup. I'm down to a couple of reasons why it lost it's steam, one, gotten to rich or i'm leaking boost somewere which shouldn't happen if it did won't the home depot couplers pop off? well anyway feel free to help me explain this, i feel bad to show all you HMT members this awful dyno chart, but feel free to critique and explain what happened. thanks again for posting these pics again

I think your turbo is not to blame. You need better management. Your A/F is pig rich after 5-5.5 which is killing you. A 10:1 might help, but it's not going to bring a smile to your face. :-\

true,
i know i don't have any room for tunning with my fuel managment, but I will try to get it to a lower calibration. I might take off the inline pump.

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

Yeah, you can see it clear as day... once your a/f ratio goes below 11:1, it's downhill from there. It's almost definatley a way overfueling problem. It may need some more timing too. That tubo tops out around 300hp according to the compressor maps, back when I was researching them, and I'll tell you, I run teh same one on my d16z6. It's much bigger than the greddy turbo, and I know that's good for like 250~275 @ like 15~16psi. There's a major fueling problem there. Look into the afc hack.

shows what kinda power FMU's make..

there pieces of ----. as everyone sez, your were way rich at the top end..

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

thanks guys for the tips and advice, I'm definetly lookin for somthin more manageable, the hack is my next option. Like i said This was just a little toy i was messin with, a way to learn first hand about FI hondas. What about those greddy fcu's? if i ran that minus the fmu, will I at least get a better a/f ratio readin on the top end?

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

instead of spending money on a half ass system pick up a hondata s200 or something..

there not that pricy. and the best

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

Not that pricey? :o

http://hondata.com/s200.html

$295 for the base s200
$200 for the boost option
$200 for datalogging
$200 for ROM editor V3
$180 for programmer
-------------------------
$1075 and that's without the launch control, G sensor, and the Romulator which would bring the grand total up to $1630! :o That's a bit pricey if you ask me. Well worth it, but pricey. :-\

I call that pricey...

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

Yeah, by installing an FMU you're taking the fuel control out of the hands of a computer and putting a mechanical diaphram in charge. A very crude control, a friend of mine has an fmu on his car and under certain part-throttle conditions it spews smoke like a diesel, but is way lean at WOT.

Piggy back computers are pretty good for slight adjustments, but they tend to be a bit crude too. For every bit of AFR correction they do, the ECU will knock up the spark advance because it thinks the engine is under more or less load. (less load if you're running larger injectors) This then has to be compensated for with ignition trigger signal mangling. Plus, ECUs only take a certain amount of ------- with them, before they go out of their load maps or show the "change engine" light.

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

I thought you could put a bleeder valve to the vac source on an fmu to lean out the mixture?

Buy an S200 if you feel like being light in the wallet? Just get on pgmfi.org like and get with the program!!! Literally!

Re:Dyno numbers d15b7!!!! disapointed.

Well, i got some good news. I dunno if any of you guys run this in year internal wastegated turbos, you know how the vacum line off the side of the compressor that's hooked to the wastegate? well, i plugged that nipple of the compressor and ran a different vaccum source to my wastegate. tee'd off the brake booster line directly to the wastegate. Man it made a huge difference. I mean I spool so much quiker and I held boost at 8 psi all the way to redline, were b4 it died out around 5k due to running rich. Also next weekend, i'm ditching the fmu and going with the 450cc and a programmed boost chip. I've seen it do wonders to Jon's car at the drop shop, put out 250hp at 10 psi with his Ls hatch. he will tune mine next week..and i'll keep ya posted
