Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
car: 88 crx hf - gut the ---- out of it replace windows w/ plexiglass (thin) and the rear hatch w/ plexiglass. Remve the gas tank and replace w/ a 1 gallon fuel cell, rip out the entire dash etc..
motor: depending on if u want it to last, you might bebale to get one pass out of a d15b2 running at like 25psi...(stockl of course) lol... you can prolly put together a d16z6 or soemthing and sleeve it and all sorts of fun ---- and then run like 20-25psi. :) that'd put you into the 12s no prob. |
Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
12s on a budget, buy a mustang. ;)

Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
I have about $2500 in my car. So far it still has the glass, full size fuel tank, and only 12psi of boost.
I have only made 6 passes with it. Hopefully next time out it will run some 12's..... You can see pics, numbers, and specs in the 1/4 times post under general discussion. |

Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
if you hold a whipcream bottle right side up it releases the propelant which is NOS. just hook up a hose to the whipcream can nozzle & run it to your intake. My friend did this in his stock ex coupe and ran a 14.4 with coilovers and street tires. i was impressed.

Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
he only used 1 whip creap bottle on that run. the day after we got back from the track he bought a Y connector and ran 2 bottles at once! that thing was blazing fast! he was only 3/4 of a car behind when we raced. i gotta 99si w/10psi t3 dynoed at 247hp 202tq. i wish i would've done that before i boosted.

Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
that story sounds a bit um... interesting. I would like to see how it looks in the engine compartment. :P. 8URHONDA ya mustangs sure are fast aren't they ::). lol j/k. 12's are a hard land mark to get too. And when budget gets in the way it will not be reliable as a daily driver, only as a events and fun night out car.
Hope I helped, Tom |
Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
12's are not that difficult, anyone can make a cheap engine/turbo setup and even a cheap ass chasis. But its all in traction. Slicks are expensive and so are good clutches.
There was a discussion on honda-tech awhile back on how hard it was to make a "decent looking" meaning not just a POS, honda run 11's for 5 grand (incl car). I think if I had a bit more patience I could do it no problem. |
Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
now I actually have one of those whip cream canisters (umm.. for cooking). It can hold up to 3 charges at once in it.
Think I need to hook that ---- up? wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa |

Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
True that 88dx.
He had a pretty good turbo to start with an 18G on a ZC... |
Re:Dumb question high 12,s on budget.
I doubt there's enough juice in a whipped cream can to make a real difference in a car, nitrous bottles don't last long.
