dual wastegate using external and internal?

I've had this idea lately, since I have a T3/T04E with a internal setup, and a manifold using an external, why couldn't I utilize both simultaneously to prevent boost spike? I could just T off the line going to the external and run it to the internal as well.. any input?

btw, i'm going for fairly large numbers on a b16 daily driver with 9:1 c/r.. hoping for ~400 minimal, so I was thinking the single 35mm gate could use some help

yes. The problem with internals is they usually don't stay shut and cause you to build boost later/not build as much as you want. But if all you're worried about is spiking, I don't see why it would hurt anything.

trying to regulate both wastegates would be the trick
they arent gonna wanna open at the same time so youll have to use a pair of boost controllers and set them independant of each other so you can match the boost between them

Boost spike= the wastegate's inability to bleed off exhaust quickly enough. IE with the proper manifold/ext. gate you shouldnt have this problem anyway.

If your running the internal gate on such a large turbo and having spiking issues, switch to the ext. gate and rig the int. gate shut.
Keep it simple. Dont overcomplicate a simple concept.

Just keep it simple :S run a 38mill

true.. i've seen a lot of high hp setups running dual 38mm ext. gates so i figured that running the internal would be a cheap solution.. i might still try it for shits and giggles

What sort of power level are you shooting for? Most of us nogs dont have the income to afford a 'high hp' setup. Much less keep it running...

400whp on pump gas.. similar to dustins setup (before he ate a valve)

400 on a b16 with pump gas, ehhhh. not likely.

im not saying it cant be done, but i have never seen it
