DSM turbo on H series...
alrighty hello guys. have loved the site for a few years now...just never posted because i had never planned on turbo....but things change!!!! ;D
so here are my few questions. i got a 90-94 Talon Turbo for free and was wondering what the code number is....i think i found TD05H-16G? is that correct? im not sure and also my next question is what do u think of putting this type turbo on my car? i also have the option of putting a CT26 on there as well. and what about manifolds...what kinda adapters or manifolds has anyone found? thanks |
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
Kinda small for a 2.2L or a 2.3L, and Talons didn't come with 16g's afaik.
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
aww see thats what im trying to figure out...what turbo it actually came with. and it is a bit small and thats another thing im wondering about i only wanna run somewhere around 7-8 PSI on it...dont wanna do anything dirty with it.
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
the 16g probably came off a 3rd gen evo.
too small. |
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
Dude that turbo is trash, just sell it to me I will take off you hands for 45 shipped ;).
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
If it's a stock turbo it's just a 14B or if it's an auto then it's a 13G. Not the best for an engine of that size. They are too small for the smaller 4G63 engine to begin with. Let alone a H series 2.2 or a 2.3. I'm always up for using whatever you have to get boosted though so if you got it then just use it. That fucker will be spooling with the car not even running. lol.
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
A 16G however will give you a cool 300hp at 5000rpm, which would be sweet, except for the power dropoff after that. But in reality that's how NA motors work most of the time.

Re: DSM turbo on H series...
lol ok thought might be a bit small. i have a buddy that has a hybrid .50 trim CT-26 thats coming off his alltrac that i can buy from him.... but 85 is a good deal lol.
about this turbo im not sure what the code is if its a 14b 16g TD05H...i have no clue. its a stock turbo from a 93 Talon TSI AWD 5spd and haha at spooling when not even on LMAO! im not new to the honda scene i have 2 honda's. a 98 SOHC coupe thats fully built, and a 96 H22A hatch stock motor. im new to the turbo thing....never turboed a car yet, but figured eh hey ---- it i snagged it for free... and here come the "turbo the SOHC" replys but yeah im done with that car :3 my DD. so do you think the CT-26 would be better? thanks guys for the replies btw |

awesome. |

awesome. my advice would be to boost the single cam, its already got pistons and rods so its ready for 400WHP. plus with the 10.5:1 it wont be a dog out of boost and will make more power with less boost. |
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
The DSM T25 is even smaller then the 14B. I've seen those spool not even bolted to anything. :X
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
hell. if there that small, use em both.....
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
yeah spent a bit of money and came out lame HP wise. oh well its a decent DD and still gets over 30MPG. oh well live and learn. that was my first build.
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
the only logical thing would be to boost the sohc.. run that little turbo until you can find a nice T3
you'll still get good gas mileage as long as you stay out of boost.. |

Re: DSM turbo on H series...
I might actually go with a similiar setup, free dsm mani and going to see how much a local wants for his turbo td04l, maybe try a 16g if theres one for cheap. Something with low boost and a small ass snail that won't hurt my new stock clutch too quickly. (There was no way out of that. :-[ )

Re: DSM turbo on H series...
the 14b will support 230 hp so would be good for a h23 that has 160 but bad for a h22 that already has 200
|
Re: DSM turbo on H series...
Yep that's what I'm deciding to go with. 8)
