Dsm stock psi

Ok Over at turbod16 were having a discussion on whats the stock psi for a turbo 2nd gen eclipse and from my knowledge its 8 psi. However some say its 12 psi stock. Is this correct?(hopefully a dsm owner can cover this) Just curious question that we all want to know for sure from turbod16.com Thanks! ;D

Re:Dsm stock psi

The internal wastegate is set from 10-12, it's not exact, there is also boost creep when you do pretty much any mods, but stock it's 10-12.

Re:Dsm stock psi

Oh great I was told to believe it was 8. 10-12 stock though? That pretty weak for a car to hit 210 horspower at 12 psi.

The T25 is a ----- turbo

Re:Dsm stock psi

i may be wrong.. but i thought the wastegate was set at 8psi.. and there was a boost solenoid that allowed the car to boost 11-12lbs once it was warmed up.. but the actual wastegate is set at 8lbs

dragon 01-16-2004 02:39 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

exact same thing i was told. Its set to 8 but you can raise it to 12. This is so confusing

nonvtec 01-16-2004 03:01 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

How does the turbo know when the car is warm? Either way, stock boost 10-12.

Re:Dsm stock psi

Wastegate setting on both 1g/2g dsms are 8psi. Reason why they open at 11-12 on DSM's is because they have a factory boost solinoid that changes it, and doesnt allow it to boost so much when the engine is cold.

Re:Dsm stock psi

Is there any way to lower the psi on an internal wastegate??

Re:Dsm stock psi

these are exact

1g, boost 12 psi and stock bov can handel 20psi
2g, boost 11, can handle 13 b4 breakdown

umm, where are you getting that...i have friends with dsms boosting more than 13psi

GimpyCivic 01-20-2004 04:40 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

I have a 1G dsm.

the 2g's have a plastic shitbox BOV that starts to leak pretty bad after 13-14psi... hence why so many 2g dsm's are loud and obnoxious

turboboy 01-20-2004 04:40 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

agreed (on the bov)...wasnt the factory rating of 210 hp given at 14 psi?

91esibtuned 01-20-2004 05:04 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

factory rating of 195, at 12 psi

turboboy 01-20-2004 05:08 PM

i meant 2g's

Re:Dsm stock psi

well, yesterday i tested a tdo5(14b) wastegate on compressed air w/ a manual regulator and gauge(0-30psi), and it opened fully at 10psi. it started to open @ 8spi
so now what?
mike

Re:Dsm stock psi

well...dsms use a solenoid to raise the pressure above that

Re:Dsm stock psi

ok so what is the correct psi? 8, 10, or 12? I mean just stock no upgrade or adjustment. What is the stock psi for sure?

91esibtuned 01-21-2004 05:51 AM

Re:Dsm stock psi

1st gen is 12
2nd is 11 due to smaller t25 and plastic shitty bov

HMT-Admin 01-21-2004 09:40 AM

Re:Dsm stock psi

If the factory boost solinoid is there 12psi. If you are going to run a single vac line from the wastegate actuator to a vac source or the compressor housing it will open at 8psi.

This isnt rocket science guys

claytonsmith 01-21-2004 10:21 AM

Re:Dsm stock psi

but but.. what if you use a carb spring.. what will the boost be set at then?? so if i have a carb spring on a dsm.. what will will the wastegate open at?? ::)

( incase you cant tell.. that was sarcasm :) )

I've got a buddy with a 2G Eclipse pushing 17psi on his T25. Hes upgrading to a 14b soon cause that lil T25 cant push out enough power. :)

Re:Dsm stock psi

the 2g was built for great response, but it wasnt bad at all
you cant boost 20 on a 14b, i know somone doing it

20psi+awd= scary fast

claytonsmith 01-21-2004 10:07 PM

Re:Dsm stock psi

there are about 4 guys i know running 20lbs on dsm's..3 are AWD... and one is FWD.. the AWD ones with a FMIC and little stuff are pulling mid 13's.. and well the fastest DSM around here should be pulling high 11's... id own one if they werent becoming such a fad around my town...

Re:Dsm stock psi

I am almost 110% positive on this but you can check www.machv.com faqs to be for sure
1g dsm 12psi
2g supposed to get 14 psi but the plastic bov only allows for 12 psi because it leaks!!! thats why every body up grades them off the get!!

dsm can be pretty quick cars but I dont think i can ever buy one. They always seem to have problems and break down. I see my boy have problems with his dsm all the time. :-\

I hear ya, my friend has a slightly modded GST and I think the record for his car was 3 days without something going wrong.
