dsm exhaust manifold on a cb7

anyone know what kind of modification is involved with installing a dsm 1g exhaust manifold (for a 14b turbo) onto a 4th generation accord (f22a6)?

Here is some pics of one that was hogged out to fit. This was some guy on Honda Society like 3 years ago now. I archive a lot of pics :) He did a pretty nasty job on it... if you take your time it would 'look' a lot better.

My unsolicited opinion: As a DSM owner, the DSM Manifolds BLOW. Theres a ------- reason so many are on ebay... except for maybe the new Evo ones they ALL hairline and fall apart. I just gave two away for shipping to a member on here last week. An Evo manifold would cost you just about as much as it would to have shitbird or someone like that make you a good tubular log.

Whats more I think the 14b or t25 would be a miserable turbo on a 2.2L Accord.

hmmm..

why exactly do you think that the 14b would be a bad choice of turbo?

Re:dsm exhaust manifold on a cb7

because its about the size of a mini-bagel. With a properly sized turbo the SOHC VTEC 2.2L accords are pushing near 290hp and 270ft lbs. Your accord isnt VTEC? no big deal just swap on a vtec head. a... major-me.

thats just my opinion.

Re:dsm exhaust manifold on a cb7

yeah it's non-vtec.

and the turbo is small - but capable of handling up to about 15 psi. also, my accord is automatic right now... so i'm probably only going to boost 6 psi at first anyways. i don't need anything huge producing 270 ft. lbs of torque. the f22 trannies can only handle 250 lbs. max. even when i eventually swap to a manual tranny... i think the 14b will suffice at about 12 psi.

i'm not trying to make mass power gains here though. if i was, i would probably reconsider my choice.

plus.. i can always upgrade turbos later if i want.

I consider myself somewhat of a 4th gen accord .. umm... self proclaimed expert. The Accord trannies can handle way more power than that! They do it every day as I know serveral sleeved F series w/bone stock trannies in the high 300ft lbs torque area. ditto on some people running in the 500hp / 420ft lbs area on their H series using F trannies for the longer gears.

Also theres a big difference between what psi you run and the CFM efficentcy rating of a turbo... you need to study your td05h-14b compressor maps a little.

6psi would be a yawner on a F22 capable of so much more :)

And get rid of that non-vtec head... you'll thank me later. Best single mod I ever did (besides swaping to manual) to my 4th gen.

Re:dsm exhaust manifold on a cb7

yeah, i'll eventually swap both the tranny and the head. but for now - i am saving up all of my money for the turbo setup. i think that i can live with just 6 psi for a few months... even if it is a yawner :)

as soon as the tranny is swapped out - the boost will be upped. i would just like to remain conservative with the boost while running the auto tranny. i fear that a higher psi than that will cause slippage and wear.

btw.. you should come over and check out www.cb7tuner.com
it's a site/forum dedicated to ONLY 4th gens. it would be cool to have you as a member. especially in our FI forum :)
