DSM Acclude project....FINISHED......with pics........

sup guys i'm new the forum and i have been thinking about ditching the nitrous and going for the dsm turbo setup.

does anyone know if 1g or 2g dsm manifold with fit the h22 head??? or just modify the holes?? and when i had my other turbo kit that was going on before i crashed my car lol i noticed that the front motor mount was totally in the way... we attempted to take it off but you could rock the motor by pushing on it :-\. any ideas on what to do about that??? and does anyone know on how the dsm downpipe routes back to the exhaust?? other than that everything else is squared away.

it won't fit the h22, shoulda kept the f series, good for boosting. have fun building the h22 for turbo. of course, you have to make a custom dp.

Re:DSM Acclude project.......

No, DSM manifold will not fit, here's why:

F22 exhaust ports are like O-O-O-O

H22 exhaust ports are like O-OO-O

Or it's vice versa...

Yes, you must lose the front engine mount. There apparently is no way around it. If you're worried about the engine rocking then go ahead and get the rear mount insert. I think they're available at www.prostreetonline.com under bushings and engine in the bushings section.

F22 would have been a better engine for boosting, you're going to need to build that H22 up if you plan on running anything more than mild boost. After you factor in the amount you paid for the swap and the amount you paid to build the engine up, you could have had a nice F22 for a lot less money. But if you've got a wallet full of cash and the need to have the best of everything...go ahead.

^^^^ well put

Re:DSM Acclude project.......

Next problem is what are you going to call it...you'll have put parts from 3 cars into it to make it what it is.

Figure that one out :P

Re:DSM Acclude project.......

Yes the f22 may be better for boosting but it make no powa :P an f22 with mild boost makes about the same power as my h22a does NA. Plus, my h22 is closed deck(bulletproof sleeves) so it can handle 9-10lbs daily driven maybe more with some rigorous tuning. And i guess i'm doing this because it's pretty rare to see a 4th gen H22 & turbo.....and from what i've seen the H-series makes much much more power with basically half the boost as most other honda engines(fully built of course).

Ok so all i need is that $25 prothane insert for the rear mount and i can take out the front one. that's good news...well then all i have left is the manifold. Does anyone know where i can just buy a dsm turbo flange, or does anyone have any ideas about what i should do about the manifold. (can i widen the holes on the dsm one????)

Or has anyone seen this done before.

thanks guys ;D

oh wow, did I drag you over here from cb7tuners or did you find this place on your own??

To make an F22 work it then you would need to invest in some pistons and rods and then start the build up. I know a guy on here that has a F22b1 that really kicks it, he is happy with vtec and boost and a nice looking car. Typically you can just dump the f22a1's front motor mount without a problem but I guess the H22 might have some mounting issues within your chassis, I've never done the swap so I don't really know. Go with at least one solid motor mount then see how it works out from there. There is a thread someplace around here to make your own solid motor mounts that will cost around 10 bucks and require a spare (used/junk) mount hanging around.

Your next issue is the H22 not being able to take the boost. I've heard they can handle 6 psi but anything past that and the sleeves won't hold it. I think the cost of buying and building up an H22 for Princess's EF hatch was around $6k - not worth it in my book. I would personally go for the F22+H22 head combo like they did over on H-T.

On the manifold, no DSM alternative will work for you. Goes the same for F22b1/b2 owners, custom mani is what you will need. If you have a welder and some skills then you can get to work on it yourself and gather some experience. DP will have to be custom was well.

Well i have the older JDM H22a with the closed deck(bulletproof sleeves) i wouldn't have to have the block re-sleeved when i build it lol. i've seen closed deck h22's take up to 10psi daily driven w/tuning and last quite a while. and make some serious power, like 300+whp on stock internals.

and i've gotten 2 quotes on doing a bottom end build on my h22a. fully built & re-sleeved(to be super safe) was $2600 and $2900 if i bring them the block. now that's not too bad of a price to be able to boost up and make 500-600whp with the proper turbo setup and engine management. but that's just my opinion.

I really don't have much experience with the H22, but if you say it will handle 10psi then go for it. The problem is would be that you will want more then 10psi once you get the taste for boost. Abaz (the admin) is about to boost an H22 (non jdm I assume) so we'll see just what it can do shortly.

Don't forget you will need new pistons/rods on that motor after sleeving it.
