Default DSM 450 with cracked tip

Just bought some DSM 450's with inline resistors already on, but there is a problem with one of them. I don't know if the picture shows up very well but one of the tips is cracked. Can the tip be replaced? Should I just try to get my money back... or is it an easy fix?

Sorry, the second one is blurry... I think my camera was the 1st digital camera ever made.

I emailed the guy and here is what he said

I do know that the tip just prevents carbon build-up happening too quick and acts as a insulator for that.
Is this true, or is this BS? Anything more to what the plastic tips do?

just knock the plastic off and run them. I've run alot of setups without pintle caps and not had an issue.

there is no fix other than removing it.
it will be fine.
if he didn't mention they were cracked, and you want peace of mind, get your money back.
how much did you pay?

I paid $70 for them (includes resistors, mind you) and he said nothing about the crack.. I don't give a ---- as long as it'll work... which it sounds like they will.
