Dropping Compression
I'm looking for the most power out of my d16y7. It has 9:1 compression I beleive. Would it be worth it to drop to 8:4:1 with internals and a 2.0mm headgasket? I was wondering if that would allow me more boost? Also how does gas octane effect a turbo car. I currently use 89, should I jump to 93 when I boost (or octane booster)?

This has already been talked about in the forum. 9:1 C/R is perfect for boost, don't need to go any lower. 8.4:1 would allow you more boost, but since a 9:1 comp ratio gives you more power with less boost, you'll have to boost a lot higher with the 8.4:1. Higher octane level is always better specially if you wanna boost a lot I would recommend to go to 93 octane... If you wanna boost a lot just build up your bottom end and leave the C/R where it is. |
