Driving Without Downpipe??

Well, i have a dilema about a downpipe, its a long story, im going to a shop to have my dp made, and he needs everything mounted, yada yada yada, i was just wondering how safe it is to drive without a downpipe?? I didnt even consider it as an option at first. Im getting it made out of town, and i have to drive about 25 minutes to get out there, someone told me to just drive it with no downpipe out there, and get it made........ but would this be safe??

That is a long drive, but I doubt you would have any problems.

I wouldn't do it if it were below like 70 degrees outside....cold air is not good if it gets into the block quick...kinda like putting a ice water in a hot glass just out of the dish washer...

It will run rich as a bitch. Don't romp on it. Drive as much like a grandpa as possible.

ahh forgot about the o2 sensor :( Yeah It's gonna be running rich as hell..lol. Hey Dr.Boost if he had an adjustable fpr could he do that temp? I know the ecu will adjust it back eventualy wont it? But like just a temp thing would that work?

I don't think turning down the FPR would help much at all. The computer will never change the fuel pressure setting.

Re:Driving Without Downpipe??

Another question answered before I got a chance to ask it. I have a WRX DP for my WRX turbo, and I had to chop the rest of the DP off b/c it goes upward and total wouldn't fit under the hood or by my fan, so I left about 2 inches for the exhuast dudes to "do there thing" on the DP, but no less I still have to get it to them.. It points upward, so I guess I'll drive there with no hood and go semi-truck style !! hehe.. I can't wait to post pics of my ghetto ass IC piping, you guys are going to hammer on me like crazy, but I don't care.. hehe.

Yea, its gotta be real ghetto with me driving to hickville outside of town, going about 35, smoke everywhere. My whole kit is pretty ghetto, im just a poor student, i have no cash at all. The whole kit ran about 650 bucks. I pawned off everything i could find that i didnt need ;D Im just a kid with a dream. Anyway, i was thinking about taking some metal and making a heat shield type thing, maybe that would protect the rest of my engine bay a little... we'll see. Ill let you guys know how it goes...

Feel free to share any other suggestions.
