drive a civic with tiny turbo, not tune

so I got home just int ime for my friends internal gated t3 powered civic to take a ----. figured out its the ecu. hes got one coming the mail but all this week and probably next he is driving on the stock tune with the whole kit on it. Popped in factory injectors too. So it runs and drives perfectly fine, we just disconnected the wastegate arm and drive like that (same as my gangster car). problem is, its a dseries so he has to floor it like verywhere to move. sometimes you can here the turbo whistling a little... is it going to overspool? I told him it should be fine. Car doesnt seem to give a ---- and the turbo is healthy.
opinions?

I drive a 7.7:1 compression D series and I hardly have to floor it to get anywhere.

If he drives like a normal person and doesn't try to boost much he might be ok, but he'll probably end up with a MAP cel anyways.

I wouldn't recommend it regardless.

it has yet to throw a cel... the car is not seeing any boost. I don't see why this is a problem? I know the turbo flows some extra air over the rpm range even before 1psi, but the engine is beat, the car is tired, and the tranny pees metal. now that the turbo is not functioning I see what a POS it was to beginw ith.

it should be fine but its so slow and you need to floor it because the turbo is acting as a large restriction like a clogged cat

but would it overspool? I would say no since it has all the piping and everything. Its just like running the turbo with wastegate set to .0001 bar. Right?
