Double head gaskets?
To lower compression a TINY is it possible to double up gaskets?... or would that just over kill it ? i mean even if it lowerd it too much couldnt you rise boost or am i just a ------ retard?

Re: Double head gaskets?
Can be done but why ?
TO figure out effect take a crushed gasket measure it. Calculate the volume it will be adding. Do the math see if it takes you where you want comp wise. If it was me Id just finger the timing or the boost. Droping comp to run boost seems a little too old school and lame for me personally. Jsut my 2 cents. |
Re: Double head gaskets?
I'd hate to know how many extra head gaskets I'd have to change trying that ----. I've changed enough of them running one gasket to realize two of them would really ---- me over. I'd stick with either one metal gasket or an aftermarket gasket that was designed to lower compression.

Re: Double head gaskets?
For us gaskets are 5$ a pop.
Experiment with them to find something that works. THen just measure it up and go metal. Its a good way to experiment. |
Re: Double head gaskets?
You can get multi-layer (thicker) headgaskets. They can easily drop compression, but like the others have said. Lowering compression is old stuff.
You accually want around 9.0-9.5 C:R for most street applications. Keeps your low/mid range strong as ----. |
Re: Double head gaskets?
Do you ever double up with condoms? no..
Dont double up on head gaskets, IMO it increases the risk of blowing |
Re: Double head gaskets?
Droping comp is a stupid thing to do.
There is allways another way to address the issue. Did you know there are guys bolting Turbos onto Haybusas and pulling over 400-500 BHP. And they dont seem to need to touch the comp. |

Re: Double head gaskets?
wouldnt keepin the stock 9:1 come around to like 11:1 boosted? why not lower it a tiny then give a extra turn to the boost controller? or would it even matter raising the boost at lower or higher comp. R ? im still a noob for sure guys ! i have a .43/46 or something a lil tiny ford but i wanna use my 48/60 on my d series.. wouldnt the .60 be better for sure ! or will it be ALOT harder on the motor

Re: Double head gaskets?
dont listen to the haters,
ive ran double stacked head gaskets in my car for YEARS. i run 10-20 psi, and never had a problem on a totally stock block. my motor comes with 10:1 comp, and 2 gaskets makes it about 9:1. it works, no doubt about it. |
