I'm going to go with aluminized steel for my intercooler tubing because it's cheaper, but am I going to have to powdercoat them, or do they not rust?

 

I would say no.My exhoust is aluminized steel and ive had it for 7 years now and no rust at all is present.

Yes it will, it's just a matter of time. It takes longer than non aluminized, but it WILL rust.

 

how long does it take, I'm not planning on driving it in any snow or salt ever. I have a friend that will powdercoat it all for $100, should I do that?

 

i dont know exactly what aluminzed steel you are using, but im just using rustoleum spray paint on my charge pipes. my exhaust is aluminized steel and i dont give a ---- if it rusts or not. So basically, i vote for some $4 rustoleum spray paint

well I guess mine hasnt rusted couse I live in Cali. and we dont get snow ther for we have no road salt.That ---- will eat annything.

 

Just spray paint that ****... Besides I'm sure its not like painting a car... then 'gain some people paint their cars with spray cans... HM....

 

i'd worry more about them rusting on the inside than the outside. high temp compressed air is a pretty harsh environment for non SS steel.
