Default Do you guys know anything about these cars?

I was in the junkyard today, where I found an Isuze I-Mark turbo and a Sunbird turbo.

The Isuzu had an IHI turbo in it, so is it safe to assume it's the same IHI that's in the MX6 and 626? I didn't bother taking a close look at the Sunbird unit, since it was pretty much toast (lots of shaft play/oil inside). Would have been nice to know what it was, now that I think about it.

I snagged the MAP sensor from the Sunbird, but couldn't get the Imark one off. (remember to bring vice grips next time). The sunbird is a 2 bar, right? Does anyone know what the Isuzu would have in it? It also uses a GM part.

Also, do you guys know if the injectors are worth grabbing as well?

HiAaron,

The Sunbird had a T2 turbo, it's like a junior version of the T25, apparently anything over 160hp is beyond it's efficient range.

The Isuzu IHI is the same center section as the probe model with slightly different turbine and compressor housings.

You thinking of forced induction in your AE?

Shortyz, As far as I know the 2 bar sensor comes in
91-93 GMC Syclone & Typhoon 4.3 turbo
87-90 Pontiac Sunbird Turbo 2.0
84-86 J-Body turbo 1.8
GM part # 16009886
Wells part # SU-129
standard part # AS-4

I'm told that the Isuzu turbo units are also 2 bar ones as well.

I'm not sure what the 3 bar comes out of, but if you want to order it from GM, it's part # is #16040749.

SDS uses these units, and sells them for about $70 and $90 USD respectively.

And Neil, I'm not sure where this is all headed at the moment. Maybe my AE, but most probably my bro's DA. He has the funds to pull it off.
