do i need a tune on stock injectors/fuelpump?
like the title says will i need to tune my car on stock injectors and fuel pump? i was just asking because i wanted to do my set up one step at a time. if i need to tune my car i will just get the injectors and fuel pump. i think you dont have to because the air/fuel setups are not messed with and if i do have to tune it can you please explain why?
sorry for the noob question. thanks |
Re: do i need a tune on stock injectors/fuelpump?
Save the tune until you are actually boosted. Otherwise, you are wasting your $

and the award for the dumbest question of the year goes to.......
UMAIR! haha but for real, dont bother with a tune until your actually boosted. stock cars have very good stock maps, and no one here will tell you its ok to use stock injectors on anything more than about 3-4 pounds boost. tune should be the second to last part of the project, the last is to enjoy all your hard work paying off. big hint though, dont skip out on the good tuning stuff. its actually cheaper in the long run than buying other tuning stuff. use crome or uberdata or any of the other good free ones. |

Re: do i need a tune on stock injectors/fuelpump?
ok...if the car is not turbo you do not need a tune until you start changing ----. If the car will be turbo, ditch the stock injectors and get tuned.

Re: do i need a tune on stock injectors/fuelpump?
I think what he's getting at is......If he turbo'd the car but kept the stock injectors and pump, would it have to be tuned, right? Of course it needs to be tuned dumbass, but if you're paying someone to tune it make sure you have you're enitre setup complete like injectors'n'---- before the tune, since changing them out afterwords will require a new tune.

Re: do i need a tune on stock injectors/fuelpump?
Don't even drive your car around the block without upgraded injectors/fuel pump or some kind of fuel management. Even an FMU would be better than nothing. If you can't afford to get injectors/fuel pump right now just wait to put the turbo on once you have everything ready.

Or drive it around with the wastegate spring out until you can get it tuned.
