Default Do I NEED to put a new O2 sensor in?

I have a 93 civic ex with a d16, I'm making my own dp and Manifold, not sure where the O2 sensor goes...I think the dp, but when I make my own, do I need to get an O2 bug from a muffler shop and weld it in so I can put my stock O2 sensor in? Or just not put one in at all?

your o2 sensor is a must if you drive your car every day. 98ctr

PS: you can put it in the down pipe or anywhere after that.

Yes u need to put your o2 sensor in. You can put it anywhere on ur manifold after all 4 runners. if u wanna make things hard and drill it and tap it that is. The easiest way would be to get an 02 bung and weld it on ur downpipe.

I know it doesn't seem right, but I'm running with my o2 just hanging in the air, and it isn't even throwing a code. I expected it would at least run super rich, but it seems to be pretty much ok. The idle is a little messed up, and that could be related to the o2 I suppose, but it doesn't feel like it is super rich. Oh well, I don't have a wideband so I dunno. I'm going to get it welded into the dp as soon as I can get to it. But it is definately driveable.

You may want to check and make sure you can get your 02 sensor out. Mine is stuck for good and I had to buy a new one.

I tried everything... Wrenches, breakerbars, vice grips, hammers... Even the tool that's made specifically for taking the damn thing out didn't work :P I got the new one from Ebay for $50 (4 wire)

the tool works every time for me....sure you didnt strip it out trying it with the wrong tool first?
"the tool" doesn't even fit onto the sensor correctly and was the only thing that actually started to strip it.
